In one of my posts a couple of people mentioned that fluid intake has an effect on the amount of breastmilk produced.

If this is the case how much fuid is a good amount for one day? and should it be water or will any type of fluid count e.g. milk?

Thanks

Hey there i am a breastfeeder and my baby is 5 months, my mother-in-law is all up on breastfeed and healthyness lol she says that really you should have a little nibble and a drink when ever you feed i dont think there is a curtain amount just alot thats why in doctors baby bits usally water on the side .
It all depends on what you would like to drink as if juice not really good for your teeth acid for both stomachs but i have been taught that the best thing is is water oversly or full fat milk as it will make your milk thick and creamy same with full fat butter and chees etc.
So just remember as long as you do drink atleast up to a pint and a little nibble (even a biscuit) everytime you breastfeed then will be no problem just make sure ou atleast have some water in a day and if not liked the ad a tint of juice in with it x
O and smoothies personally i dislike them but apperently they are really really good for you and your child high in everything!

I drink water and try to have at least 6 glasses a day. No caffeine. No fizzy crap. Some juice but limit it.

I don't count milk. But I drink at least one large glass of that a day also.

And yes, if you do have days where you don't drink enough your breast milk supply can dip.

i try to have a glass of water with every breast feed, i do have about 3 cups of tea a day but no fizzy and i cant drink milk on its own it makes me :puke:

mmmm tea im forever drinking that do, totally addictive lol, if you dont like it on its own what it you tryed having milkshake or mixing your own up or having a millky chot chocolate cause it is the full fat in the milk sme with cheese and full fat butter and cream etc cause your milk will then come out very thick and creamy

I try and drink at least 2 litres a day in water alone then I'd say I have about 3 cups of fruit tea during the day so that would count too, probably 3 litres in all then.
