First gp visit to discuss ttc.. help

I didn’t know the postcode lottery affected them even doing a basic blood test and SA! How ridiculous!

My gp told me 3 years!! My husband gp told him a year. We went to different surgeries when I was trying and the were only about 10 miles apart.

The NHS website recommends basic tests after a year if you're under 35 and after 6 months if you're over 35. Just by reading on here, it varies hugely whether GPs actually follow this advice. Often you have to be quite persistent!! As far as I understand, 3 years etc usually refers to eligibility for IVF which really does vary by area. I think they often get confused by that as GPs often know very little about fertility.

Yea I'm seeing the nurse tomorrow because I'm newly registered but going to book an appointment with the gp while I'm there have to discuss my fibro stuff so I'll slip in ttc talk aswell

Best of luck. Great idea bringing oh with you. I always try and get appointments like that with my husband- he often remembers to ask things I’d forgotten about and afterwards, remembers things I’d forgotten that the doctor had told us! x

It went really well to be fair my oh didn't open his mouth untill the doctor asked him questions but the doctor commented to him that I'm well informed lol.
I'm going for blood tests and oh is being refered for a sperm analysis so rather happy the doctor was lovely to be fair to him

Yea it is really . I went for the bloods this morning which went horrid i have to go back my veins were not for giving any blood up so got stabbed twice and I'm petrified of needles
