Hi all,

I don't really have any first aid experience except for comon sense which is generally not very good in my case! Haven't ever done any courses or anything either.

Was in the car on the way home a while back and heard that 'they' are offering free first aid course for parents which i thought was a great idea but obvioulsy couldn't write anything down and totally forgotten any kind of details by the time i was home so not sure who the 'they is as can't remember

Anyone else hear anything like this, i'm not sure if it's just a local thing or a national thing or what.

Does anyone else know much about first aid, especially for babies/infants as it's probably one of those things many people don't know much about but want to?

i would ask your midwife hun as one of my antenatal classes was all about first aid and it really helped me knowing i knew what to do if the worst happened.

we have a first aid trainer living downstairs from us and when he heard i was pregnant gave me a paediatric first aid booklet designed for childminders etc. he also said if we ever have an emergency to go see him cos he also used to be a paramedic. havent heard of anything in my area about first aid classes for parents etc.

I went on a paedatric first aid course which was run by the local childrens centre. it was for 1/2 a day and only cost £3. It is not routinly included in antenatal anymore. I would enquire there.

Hiya,

I wish the parenting classes had covered baby and infant first aid rather than concentrating on pain relief in labour for 4 hours!

I know that St johns ambulance do infant first aid courses but you will have to pay for them. well worth the money though.

If you find one, let us know!
