Finger food phobia .. help

I know im being ridiculous but i really want to give kayla finger food but im just soooo scared of choking her

we have held bits of toast or rusk and let her bite at it for a min and got nervous when she takes chunks off it

im being stupid and i am aware of that just looking for a bit of advice on the best way to approach it and what ishould do if she does start to choke on it? flip her face down on my arm is what i remember from first aid long time ago is that right????

She has her baby weetabix faitrly tick so im sure she is ready for it its just me thats not!!!!

How old is she?

You need to trust your baby she knows what to do, if your worried start with something softer like cooked carrot or broccoli. She may gag at first, that's ok, she's learning. Don't put your fingers in her mouth or put food in her mouth, let her explore with it, if you do it there is more of a choking risk. Let her have a play with it as food before one is just for fun

just trust them hun. give her a min to clear it herself when she gags, and be prepared cos she probably will once or twice but alyssa loves nomming her toast and rusks and crisps happily. she spits out big lumps of ricecake and bites off large bits of biscuit that she then gums into submission happily and hardly gags now but did once or twice at first.

Well decided to just go for it and gave her a finger of buttered toasonlly gagged once t and she loved it so much she cried when she had eaten it all so oh gave her a second slice and all was going sooo well till the last bit of the second slice when she rammed the whole thing into her mouth, we bot seen it but couldnt get to it as she had it back fairly far on her tongue so we just watched her closely but the fecker kept laughing n giggling so wewere trying not too look directly at her cos that was making her laugh even more but of course didnt she start to choke on it so have her a min to clear it her self but wasnt happning so OH had to take her up and put herface down and it came out pretty quick

dont think it will put me off even though it was my worst fear she done so well up to then and it was only because it was such a bit bit that she put in in one go, glad i had given the toast and not the biscoti biscuit i bought today cos they seem much harder

ekkkk wills see how tmrw goes, although MIL is over so sh will be telling me what to do no doubt not sure if that will hep or piss me off lol

well done u and kayla lol, they get better at it every time hun, lyssa actually makes chewing motions now when shes eating lol but shes realised she shouldnt shove it all in her mouth at once and just sucks it to death most of the time
