Hey ladies. Just thought I'd let the old hormones out :D

The last 2 days I've been feeling REALLY rough. My rib cage and chest are swollen and sore so I can't wear a bra or any fitted top. I have to slob about in really baggy t-shirts  . I also have pretty much constant back ache down my whole spine and bloat right out as soon I eat or drink anything which means I'm constantly unbuttoning whatever trousers I'm wearing  All this gives me a headache too lol.

Last night I was in so much phsyical pain with all this that I felt sick. Any ladies who've had an accident or m/c will know the kind of sick I mean that only comes from excessive pain :(
Thankfully it's easing off a bit as the day progresses but I had to call in sick from work.
I did have a spell of it last week as well but only for one day.

I spoke to a midwife for the first time yesterday but it didn't go too well :wall:
Last time the midwife came from the hospital and visited you at home, so when I booked the appointment at my doctors (same surgery) and the receptionist wanted to double check my address I thought nothing of it.
I was sat here waiting for our 12pm appointment and when it had hit 12.15 and no sign of her I tried ringing the surgery only to get the message that it was closed (which I've recently found out actually means the phones aren't being man'd - not that the surgery is actually shut! :x )
So I get a phone call at 12.30pm from the midwife "are you ok? You didn't turn up" I laughed off the misunderstanding but she never bothered to tell me why they weren't doing home visits anymore
She said my scan was booked for the 14th April which is about 3 weeks away. I asked for an earlier one (as my doctor had suggested since I was concerned following my m/c last year) and although she was apparently trying to get through to them on the other line - she basically told me that all the pain I was feeling was a good sign and I couldn't be squeezed in unless I started bleeding or some other complications when I could then go direct to ther hospital. Apparently appointments are now backed up to mid-late may so I'm lucky to be having mine when I'm only about 10weeks
She wasn't snotty or anything she was nice but I think she was just treating me as 'hormonal' :D
The thing is if this pain doesn't subside soon there's no way I can keep working and I'll have to either start getting doctors sick notes or quit...which is a massive pain if I feel better after the first tri and want to work again

The pregnancies still a fairly big secret and at the moment (it leaked out at work on a managers rota  but only my parents and 2 best friends know so far...haven't even told hubbies side yet as they don't know about the m/c :( ) I'm just all mixed up because I hate the way I'm feeling and until I've seen a scan I'm not really associating all the pain and discomfort with having a baby. Instead it's just like the worst feeling ever and I just want it to go away *sigh*

*gets off soap box*

Hope you girlies are all having a better time of it than me

p.s - don't beat me lol! I come from a forum that encourages long posts

AAAWWwwww....sorry you're feeling horrible. It's enough just feeling bloated all the time isn't it, without all that other stuff.

You have a good old rant hun...sure no-one minds. Try and put your feet up for a bit. Hope you feel lots better soon...

Awww sorry you are not feeling great  Sounds like a lot of the usual first tri pregnancy joys to me.

You don't have to quit your job though. You can get signed off sick by your GP if you need to. However the first three days (IIRC) are on you and only after that is a doctors note needed. And even then you can self cert yourself for up to a week. Get thorugh first tri and I am sure you'll be more up to working. Chances are you may well feel better in a few days.

I'm sure you just need to get through this rough patch in first tri and things will start to improve. Most women suffer to some degree, alas some worse than others. But for most it does pass and things do improve as your body adjusts so hang in there.

With regard to your scan at 10 weeks, thats pretty early so I'd not fret overly about it. They really tend not to do earlier scans unless there are apparent problems like heavy bleeding etc. Having one MC as awful as it might sound is often not reason enough for an NHS Trust to give an extra scan early on.
