As most of u know i hate my job and yest i just had enough all day iv been lookng for a new one and its so funny
no one is looking for a teen mum hahaha

i want to work 2 long or 3 shorter days a week but it has to be set days and only 16 hours per a week but i have no qualifications well apart from knowing how ot be a toilet cleaner im feeling really down about it rite now i know its silly but im not happu neither is B and i really cant see a way of geting out of it
i cant afford to go to college rite now that is gonna happen wen i leave hom And B has started skoool but till then it looks like im gonna be a toilet cleaner

Why dont you work in a nursery as a trainee? then you can have B in you're working place with you :)

Oh Sarah sorry to hear your not happy hun, its so difficult finding a suitable job at the best of times let alone with a child and lack of qualifications.

Have you thought about shop work? You dont normally need qualifications for that and many contracts are part time about 16 hours per week.

Also you could go into your local jobcentre, explain your situation to them and they will keep an eye out for any suitable jobs for you?

Best of luck with it all

i agree with cassi, Sarah why dont you apply for a job at a nursery plus they allow you to do your NVQ's in child care (check and make sure they do firstly). At joshua's old nursery one of the lady's was doing a degree course in childcare so that her main ambition was to work with special needs.

what do you think. plus think of all the holidays that you can have off with B.

Why not get dome evening bar work. Thats what I do now and I love it. Oh can look after bub when he gets home in the evening (I dont know if you have family who can look after bub a couple of evening a week) It gets me socialising as well and is great fun, and keeps my day times free to play with him and study. You could always apply to do a home corispondance course in something to get a qualification?

Holidays? I was thinking of a private nursery but good idea, go for a state nursery (abit harder to get though) and then you get the half terms and 6 weeks etc, private nurserys you dont..

Try waitressing, you don't need to have any qualifications, you just need to be able to interface with the public and be friendly. Most restaurants can either give you a set rota, or let you chop and change as long as you give them enough notice, the hours can be to suit you, and you get some cash in your pocket at the end of the shift.

i can only work 16 hours to stay on my leval of working tax credits

id love to work in a nursery tho always have lol.

sarah i'd speak to your local sure start, one of the things they do is help people work in child care. they should be able to help you find a placement.

the pay may not be very good while youre unqualified, but it only takes a year and you learn on the job.

This may help http://www.childcarecareers.gov.uk/

dont let anything hold you back hun

Do you not have any GCSE's?
As that would get you entry on to some nvq courses which i think you can do on the job or even do correspondance courses.

why don't you go back to college sarah and get some qualifications? They will pay for you childcare and stuff. Then you will be able to have more options.

HI sarah
sorry to hear your going through this. When i was 19 I had my son and found bar work was something i enjoyed doing I only worked 16 hours a week.
I am 28 now and due to go back to college full time Mon-fri 9-5 doing my btec national diploma in early years to become a nursery nurse. The college placement also offers free child care in there nursery.
I have given up work to do this as I am now lucky enough to have my oh support me (think he is grovelling)
But before I made the desicion I called my local job centre and asked to speak to the LONE PARENT ADVISOR. They are trained to sit witin you and work vout which is best for you to do and you have to think about the long run, would going on benifits be better for you while you go to college or as some of the other girls have mentioned do your NVQ in child care (if thats what you want) the lone parent advisor will be able to tell you how to go about this.
Sorry my message has gone on for so long but when I read your problem it reminded me of me when I was younger and I wish I had some one to help me. And you should be proud of the fact that you have got a job and proud of your self for all you have achived and are going to achieve
again sorry its long
Hope it works out for you

hi, a friend of mine said that one of the new working family tax credits policies means that she can work extra hours and her family tax goes up by 12 pounds and she can also keep the extra money earnt... she isnt the most reliable source, but maybe you could look into that?

hope the job search goes well.. fingers crossed for you x
