hey ladies,

just need a little pick me up really! Max is getting hungrier then ever n i feel so bad not feeding him as much as he wants but then i dont want to over feed him! and its stressing me out so much and making me feel really low :(

when hes asleep and he moves looking like hes gonna wake up i get nervous and think no no please dont wake up! its like im prefering him to just be asleep all the time how awful is that!

ive been out of the house twice since the 28th march (5 days spent in hospital) but am too scared to take him out anywhere, i will only go if my mums with me.

i just get so paranoid he will wake up and start screaming and its not been long enough for me to give him another feed.

does anyone else feel overwhelmed and stressed?? im getting worried out PND, i had such a stressful pregnancy and so i thought when he got here i would just be so happy all the time with him that i think its shocked me a bit....

anyone got any advice?? xxxxxxxxx

I didn't think you could overfeed babies - they'll either refuse to take it or projectile vomit

Hun I was the same especially when my OH went back to work But I promise you it gets better , why don't you try to take your LO for a short walk it will do you the world of good. Would you not consider hungry babymilk , my daughter is on hungry babymilk . The only thing with hungry baby milk is it can make babies constipated so I always make sure I gAve my LO some cooled boiled water.

Xxxx

my OH hasnt had any time off work as he's self employed so hes out all morning and all evening so hes only here middle of the day. i want to take him out for a walk but i had a c-sec and cant carry our pram outside my flat on my own :(

i gave him 2oz of hungry baby this morning and that seemed enough but only for a n hour and a half until he woke up for another feed (usually he has 4oz of normal milk and feeds 2-3 hours) but ive been told not to use it so early on but im gonna try it again later tonight so hes having both hungry baby and the normal.

i tried giving him some water earlier but he didnt like it and kept spitting it back out  xxx

Aww I didnt know u had a section hun , the first few weeks are so hard with a new born it was a huge shock for me . Take your baby's lead thou feed him when he's hungry .

What milk do you give ur LO xxx

Alyssa has always taken 3 or 4 oz of milk when she has a formula feed o top of what she gets from me first. i personally dont think you can overfeed a baby at this stage. they dont come with a manual and no 2 are the same hun so try not to stress too much. if hes hungry feed him. you will get to know when hes actually hungry or when he wants to comfort suck or what else he wants. it is hard at first and you do dread them waking up sometimes lol cos you need a little peace n quiet to yourself too

i feed him SMA gold the ready made cartons (we're told we have to do this for the first 4 weeks)

thanks ladies my mum has asking around too and everyone is saying feed on demand whenever he is hungry (making sure its hunger not something else he needs) its just the midwives and health visitors that make us feel like there are set rules!!

think the hormones are just making me feel a bit low but hopefully i will pick up soon xxxxxx

hi hun I was thinking about you today as my lo feeds the same and commented on ur other post that my mw was happy, my hv came today and was also happy with feeding and weight gain even tho he was 7lb6 at birth and at 3 weeks is now 9lb 12 which I thought was lots. it will get easier x

see its mad how they can have such different views!! thanks wifey thats made me feel better xxx

I felt the same as you hun after little man was born and it does get better!! Take little steps and dont try to do too much!! I found that each day I would set myself a target of something I would do today ie go out for a walk or try havng a bath with them in the bouncy chair!! I know you said you couldnt go out for a walk coz of the flat but cud you carry little one outside for a little bit? Maybe just a walk up the road and back??
ITs good that you seem to have a very supportive mum tho, family and friends make it all a lot easier!!
xxx

I'm still trying to work out when Bertie wants feeding or just comforting, it's a pain but it makes me chuckle in a way cos I admire his gall lol. I don't think you can over feed a baby either, they took what they needed in the womb and no more and it's no different now xxxxxxxx

I don't think you can over feed a newborn, they bring it back up if they eat too much.

Also don't worry about wanting him to sleep, I was like this for a wee while, I also worried about it being PND but this week I feel loads better. I think it's just cos you get do tired and stressed that when they're sleeping you can relax a bit. Xxx

Baby will only take what food he wants. It's better to have a happy full baby than a hungry grumpy one. I was sent to hospital when theo was a week old as he had gained so much weight and they just said he will take what he wants when he wants and as he was born big anyway he needed to keep up to his growth

thanks ladies, saw the HV today and she just said feed him when he wants to be fed! so theres my answer! just wish he didnt eat so much during the night lol

hes gone from 8lbs 12oz at birth, to 9lbs 6oz and hes 15 days old...... thats a huuuuge weight gain but one they're happy with !!

xxxx

All that worry for nothing, glad ur feeling better now. My lo slept 4 hours last night im praying he does it again. Fx things get easier soon, night feeds can be so hard sometimes I always read forum to keep me awake lol

Ffs you would kind of hope they'd all sing from the same song sheet!

Glad the hv said it's fine, after all they do really have more experience at raising a baby whereas a mw is all about getting them into the world. I think Albert will hit 9lb when he's ooooh about a year lmao

Try and chill out a bit now chick, you are doing a fantastic job xxxxxxxx
