Hey.. had my first appointment with my midwife like a week ago today, and i can't help but feel disapointed.. im approx 15 weeks pregnant.. i have no clue though really.. she said that i couldnt be given a dating scan or anything.. but she would book me a scan for a month.. which means i wouldnt even be getting my first scan till i was 19 weeks.. is this normal? she wasnt that helpful.. but i got revenge by being sick in her sink.. so thats ok.. lol

I had by dating scan when I was 16 weeks.. I thought I was 12 weeks at the time and the dating scan put me a month ahead.

maybe call up the scanning unit and ask if you can have a scan as you need your 12 week one, your just a few weeks late

good luck hun :D

i think u shud b given a scan earlier thn tht defo..iv got my 2nd scan wen im 21 weeks u shud av had ur 1st by now but not sure if different areas do scans at different times i wud go bk 2 ur midwifes hun and ask thm for a earlier 1 xx

Yeah.. i should do that.. it was my midwife who told me i shouldnt.. but for no reason.. she just said i should just wait.. odd really..
its a bit annoying having no due date too.. it sound so silly you know when people ask when im due.. and all i can tell them is may.. lol

As your due for one at 18-22 weeks sounds to be like she's fobbing you off so that you dont have to go for one now and then again in a few weeks, them scan places are manic with the influx of people moving to this country etc so she was probably trying to save the NHS a few pounds! I'd kick up babe, ring the unit etc and see where you get. Tell them you're really worried as you cant wait that long and you might only be 12 weeks ish anyway as 15 weeks is just a guess. Good luck!!! xxxx :)

MOST hospitals do the dating scan around 12 weeks and then the anomaly scan around 19-21weeks.

However i know that my hospital never used to offer the dating scan at 12 weeks only the anomaly scan at 20 weeks but they introduced the 12 week one aswell sometime ago.

It may be that your hospital doesn't offer a 12week dating scan on the NHS which is why they are missing it, you should ask the midwife if that's why, if they do offer it routinely then she is just fobbing you off and you should be arranged a scan asap especially if you are unsure of your dates!

If they don't offer a 12 week scan, then you could pay for a private one if you wanted too/can afford it.

Cheers dolls.. thanks for the replies.. feeling a lot better about it today.. im gonna ring her up and ask her.. i just feel lost without a due date or anything.. you know.. it sounds a silly thing to be wound up about..

*hugs*
