...but once again I didn't get to see the consultant, I was fobbed off with one of her members of staff. Didn't go as well as I'd hoped. First of all I turned up at 3pm for my appointment and was kept waiting until 5pm before I got to see anyone.

When I did finally get in, it was a completely different set of staff to who I have seen before, and they didn't have a clue what was going on, I had to tell them that I was awaiting test results, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered looking. They couldn't find one of my results and just shrugged it off, rather than looking again.

They were meant to take blood tests this time, as my platelet levels need monitoring closely, as they are dropping and it can have serious implications for the baby, but they didn't bother to take any blood tests, just told me they would see me again in 2 weeks time. Last time I saw them they said that they might have to induce me early, because of the danger this can cause to the baby. Today they don't seem to care about it enough to even monitor it. :?

In 2 weeks I will be only a few days off my due date. My consultant told me last time I saw her that she didn't want me delivering a large baby, due to complications in my last labour. My baby is measuring large, but the staff today ignored that fact. By the time I have my next appointment it will probably be larger than my consultant would like, but then I'll be almost due, so there won't be a chance to induce me early.

Last appointment they were also concerned about an excess of amniotic fluid. Although nothing has changed, today they hardly even mentioned it.

The only good thing to come out of my appointment is that my blood test for obstetric choleostasis came back negative, which is a relief.

I'm really angry and confused, I've come back knowing not much more than when I went. I think I'll have to ring the consultant tomorrow and see if she will see me, or at least arrange for me to have some more blood tests done. But tonight I'm not a happy bunny. :(

Im not surprised you arent happy. You phone tomorrow and do what you have to do. These people amaze me sometimes, :(

i'd definately ring your midwife tomorrow and explain, if you have been told that you need close monitoring then i definately ring and mention it.

My consultant appointments were the same, always saw his understudies and they all thought different, never in on time and they all seem to have different urgency levels.

Don't let it pass hun cos at the end of the day it will be you suffering not them, they just pass you off to get you out of there as they are running laate, do the essentials and thats it.

Thanks laura and yvonne. The thing that worries me most is that they seemed so concerned last week, and now they barely acknowledged the problems. I don't know whether I should be worried or not.

I barely slept last night worrying about today's appointment. This evening I know nothing more and as a result will probably continue to have sleepless nights until I get some answers.

That is so true. The registrar wanted to put me on a monitor for 20 minutes today, because the baby had been moving less recently. The midwife on duty started pulling faces and muttering under her breath because she wanted to go home instead. Then she asked me if I would go to the hospital later this evening to have it done rather than her do it there and then. It annoyed me so much that I said no, I wanted it doing immediately. If she had not made such a fuss I probably would have ageed, but she made me feel so annoyed, like I was putting her out. If they had seen me on time, she wouldn't have had to stay late anyway.

yep i know exactly what you mean.

Honestly though hun i would ring tomorrow.
I find as well that while they are rushing they don't listen to you properly.

If you speak to your midwife tomorrow she may refer you to the antinatal clinic for these tests tomorrow, i don't know how something so important one week can be shrugged off the week after!

:wall: health services are getting worse and worse lately...

My midwife was off ill once and i had to see this other woman who was quiet young but still older than me, i gave her my pee sample to test and she refused and said ohh your coming back in 3 weeks anyway, you can have it tested then  HELLO? things can change overnight let alone 3 weeks!!! The reason I went for the appointment is so she could do some blood tests and she was going to refuse to do them too until I said 'listen, ive been bought in early for these bloodtests because my last ones got sent off late and diddn't get tested for everything, so if you don't take my blood then it was a waste of time me coming'...well she took them in the end but she really p****d me off!

Can't believe after explaining to them they diddn't do what you were originally bought in for...do you not have a direct number for ur consultant? i'd get on the phone and complain that it sounds like a bunch of work experience kids are running the place instead of professionals :?

Well, I rang the consultant's secretary, she was really understanding, and said she could see why I was concerned. She said she would pass the message on to the consultant. A couple of hours later she rang back and said that the consultant waned to see me that afternoon! I went down there and she took the bloods and has decided that she will induce me on my due date if I haven't had the baby by then. I'm so glad I saw her, I feel much more at ease now.

Thats good news hun, glad you pursued it and got things sorted :)
