Lo is showing a preference for one breast over the other.

I have taken to start with his least preferred boob which he will gulp at initially for only a couple of mins (only when full) then starts to fuss and comes off. Then we switch sides and he feeds like a trooper!

I have tried different positions just incase he is finding it less comfortable to feed from that side but no difference.

I express when I can from the disliked side to try to keep supply going

Any tips?

THanks in advance

Hi Julianne,
Burp the baby when he pauses and then try to offer second breast. If he is still hungry he will take the second breast. If not, offer the other breast in the next feeding. Some babies prefer one breast over the other which is not an issue because breasts will adjust to produce different levels of milk according to the nursing frequency. If there is still a need, you can pump the milk from the other breast. Hope that helps.

Hi there I don't know if this will help but from 1 yer old my lo wouldn't feed from my right breast I tried to express and get him back on it but he now only feeds on my left, so I think it's true that babies have a favourite boobie Lol x

Both my children had this and it was the same side too.
I just kept offering the least preferred and eventually they latched and would feed properly from it.
Perseverance and patience and they'll soon master it x
