just heard on the news that Farepack have gone bust, and that no one will get a refund....I think that's awful, there was a woman on who had saved £900 for Christmas to help with food and pressies for her two young kids, now she's got nothing
It's really sad as these companies are aimed at low income families who save hard all year to give their kiddies a good christmas and they've all lost their money. I feel really really sorry for them
i would never trust companies like this, I would rather put a little away in to a bank savings account at least you can guarantee you'll get your money back.
I think these companies are terrible! It's people on a low income that pay into them, my aunt does.......and she really lives on a shoestring and saves what she can through a company like this so that my cousins can have a good xmas....can't believe people are faced with this awful news so close to xmas, the people who lose are the people who can;t afford to lose
I've just seen this on GMTV, and it's made me cry.
I used to save with these up until 3 years ago. I admit that I was terrible with money, and if I tried to save in an account, it always went on something else, so this was the only way I could afford Xmas. If it had happened to me, I would be devestated.
They have said this morning that the company waited until people had made their final payment before announcing that it's parent comapny had gone bust! And you could still make a credit card payment on their website yesterday morning, even though they announced the problem last Friday!
And they sold off their profit making companies earlier in the year for £34million!!! Disgraceful...they are cruising around in their expensive cars with their big houses, whilst the prople who paid in all year face a very bleak xmas - they should not be allowed to keep the profit they made from selling the other companies earlier in the year!!!
