HI all,

Spenat friday night in hospital with Sam. He'd had diahrroea from Sun - Thurs. It then calmed down so we thought it was gone. But Friday it came back terribly - projectile poo every half hour.

Anyway, they took blood, urine and stool samples and Saturday /Sunday it calmed down so we, (like the hospital) thought it was a bug that was wearing off.

However, today it's come back along with the extreme crying but the hospital has said that no bugs were found.

That leaves us at a loss to figure out what is going on - can you help? Lactose intolerance?

Thanks in hope,

Lisa xxx

It sounds like Faith's poohs! They would rumble and literally spray out and were really watery. In fact they were all water.
With her it was lactose intolerance.
Is he being breastfed or formula?
If it's formula then it might be worth trying soya milk - people who want their kids to be vegeatrian/vegan use it so it is perfectly fine to use. Most supermarkets sell it - C&G is called Infasoy and SMA is WYSOY.

If that's what it is you'll notice a big difference i about 12 hours! And Faith was immediately much happier, she used to cry in pain all the time!

PM me if you need any other info, hope you get it sorted and that your LO gets better xxx

I would guess that it could be lactose intolerance. Can they not do a test for that? Let us know how things are going for you all. xxx

sounds like Tia when she had lactose intolerance... Hers were explosive and watery... :) See if you can you make a connection between giving your LO any milk based products and see if it starts again.

Exactly what Daftdd had for over a week. saw doc and he wanted me to starve him for 24 hrs wtf! He's only 4 mths old. Got a second opinion and it turns out to be lactose intolerant, started his new milk today (sma lf ) so far so good after just one day.

Definitely sounds like lactose intolerance. Connie moved to SMA LF (free on prescription) and was better within 12 hours.

Thanks for all your help. I'm hopeful it might be secondary/temporary lactose intolerance. Sam was fine to begin with and the runs only starting last Sunday week when he was 5 weeks old. I would be really gutted to give up breastfeeding though, but something is causing him alot of pain so if it is LI then looks like I'll have no choice.

Will try to have him tested and see if colief works.

Thanks

L xxx
