expressed milk, how many oz?

hey ladies

How much expressed milk does your LO take per feed when you give them one? we only do when i'm away out or sometimes at night so OH can do bedtime routine, hes now taking 8-8.5 oz, hes 5.5 months, does this sound right

I asked the HV about this as I was confused.

She told me when T was about 5 weeks old she should get 5oz and I asked her again a few weeks back how much I should give her and she said 5-6oz. So that's all I give her.

Having said that, if she doesn't get enough she makes up on the next feed usually. I rarely feed her a bottle at bedtime though, it's usually out and about in the day time and she catches up with a long bedtime feed.

A lot of babies take more than the would from the breast due to comfort. Can't say much more than that as I'm not an expert of bottle feeding Tyler

thanks ladies, he usually wont accept anything less that 8oz these days, hes only small to, dont know where hes putting it all

For a long time G wouldn't take less than 6oz, and sometimes nearer 12oz in one feed. Now she hardly drinks anything of I'm not there.x

We used to give Finn 2 expressed bottles a day and he used to take 5-6oz before bed (at between 6 and 10 weeks old). He now only has one expressed bottle, which for some reason, he will only take a maximum of 4oz. Normally he will have 3oz at bed time, and will sleep for 5-6 hours, but then will wake every 2-3 hours after the breast feed.
