Hi all,

I don't post much on here but always on reading up and getting advice, I'm due May 11th so only 7 weeks to go ...yay! :cheer:

I'll do a hello post actually soon.. but anyway lol.. my question is after giving birth when can I start exercising to shed the belly and weight as I really want to start asap as I hate the weight gain.

Things like sit ups etc, are they safe a day or so after?

If you have a C-Section I think they say 6 weeks recovery, if you have a VBAC birth then I think you will know in yourself when you are ready - my advice would be to start light exercise first - don't rush striaght into sit ups - but everyone is different so I guess it really depends on you.

I think you should discuss it with your MW as she will be able to help, I was given a booklet about exercises in pregnancy & early motherhood (but its in the car & DH has gone to work so can't get it) - maybe you could ask her for one of those booklets? (If you don't have one already)

I plan on doing A LOT of walking when Libby gets here to burn of my baby weight :cheer:

well it says in my rough guide to babies what Em said about C sections light abdominal and pelvic floor in first 5 months and you can do arobics after 5 months if you are completely healed.

it recommends earlier on swimming walking and yoga
