...starting lots of baby and mother groups and activities!

As some of you know Im a wheelchair/mobility scooter user so mobility is an issue for me and as DH is at work mon to fri im pretty much house bound till evenings and weekends or if a friend comes and ferries me around or walks Matilda's pram while Im in my chair etc!

Sooooo Ive been researching lots of slings while I was pregnant and since having Matilda to find something that is compatible with my wheelchair and scooter and YEYYYYYYYYYY Ive finally found one!

Its a papoose sling and its fab and Im loving it as I am now independant again and so looking forward to starting all the baby and mother groups!

Im starting the breast feeding group next monday which will be great as my SIL and close friend who have both got 16weeks babies chose not to BF so it will be nice to blether to other BF mammy's!

Ive already started baby massage as the lady comes to the house and does it, but now I can get along with Matilda and meet the other mammy's!

We're also starting bouncing babies group ( bounce and sing nursery rhymes etc with them) and I have put her name down for Mothers and toddlers as there is an 18month waiting list!

Theres lots more so I will see what else we want to attend when I get there!

But im very excited to be 'out there' with other mammy's and am looking forward to Matilda making some new friends....;-) xxx

fantatsic glad u worked it so u can get out xx

I didnt realise you were wheelchair bound...well done you for getting out and about and making the most of the baby groups. I go to a SureStart baby group on a Friday morning with Ollie and we absolutely love it and as I'm abit of a shy butterfly I have managed to get talking to other mums about baby stuff too which really helps me to get along.
So glad you found a sling too :)

i didnt realise either wf!! totally understand the house bound thing!! h was 8 weeks old when i finally got to push him in his pram but before that i used to hold him while someone pushed my wheelchair!! its so exciting taking the baby out and about and me and my friend are taking the babies to a baby sensory class next week!!

Thanks RB hoping you and little lady are doing well xxx

Yeah Mdsremos....been in a chair for 4 years now its restricting at times but I still do as much stuff as I used to as often as I can just struggle a bit more at times lol! Riding my motorbikes is a no no atm tho lol!

Yeah Im really looking forward to getting along to the groups as being housebound all week can be a bit monotonous and poor Matilda must get sick of just hearing my voice lol Great that your getting out too I can imagine if your a bit shy it must be hard getting out there and meeting folk but glad your enjoying it xxx

Hey tinkerbell nice to know im not the only wheelchair using mother out there....are you a full time wheelchair user? How do you manage getting out alone with LO? Ahhh the sensroy classes sound great....I really cant wait to be getting out and about with Matilda and seeing whats available to us! xxx

Thanks Alice glad to hear you have great resources available it makes all the difference doesnt it.... xxx

Because I broke my ankle 10 days before having h I used a wheelchair from sept till xmas and have been trying to get back on my feet since! I tended to be pushed in it while holding h as I needed crutches to do everything with! So I kindof had no arms or legs!I tended to stay in mon-fri and used to go out somewhere sat and sun!always with a chaperone though as I couldn't carry h! I had everything all around my sofa so I could care for h and have to wait for my oh to come in to bath and put h to bed! Are you fully wheelchair bound wf?

I have the greatest respect for all wheelchair users esp one with babies and roads and shops are just not wheelchair or crutches friendly! Its nice to be able to get out and about with h now though but it wasn't how I had imagined I'd spend the first third of my maternity leave! If you need any ideas how I did things just ask!x

Ahhh nightmare!! Bless you! Yeah access for wheelchairs and scooters etc is rubbish! Im always barging my way through places coz I get so mad that theres no access but whats new! lol
I can get around the house but when Im outdoors Im always in my chair or electric wheels....its fine tho Im used to it now so its normal to me and it doesnt stop me doing much other than when Im out I cant reach the stuff thats too high but I just ask someone to help lol!

xxx

i tell you people are so disrespectful and i cant believe the smallest things make your life so hard!! i tell you i can prob tell you the location of the best disabled loos/ baby changing places/ lifts in my local town lol!!

Good for you WF it's better to feel safer than be unsteady!! My poor mum has ms and she was the one mainly pushing me around when we went out (oh was working) she kept me sane by cooking us meals to put in our freezer and cooking for us on a sunday so my oh could have a rest!

Oh yes they can be really rude! I was in asda once and a man told me I shouldt be in there with that! (My mobility scooter) got to laugh at them tho lol!

Im not a wallflower so thankfully Ive not lost my personality since being a wheelchair user and nothing fazes me so I carry regardless lol xxx

i was in costco on crutches with a cast on i got tutted at, talked about and rammed by trolleys and flatbeds 15 times (yes i counted) and each time i loudly stated if they wanted to push me around the store could they ram me a little harder so i can sit down!! lol!!

enjoy every minute and i hope to here where you've taken matilda!! i hope you know your nursery rhymes!!

Ha love it! I always come out with comments especially when Im invisable! lol

Ohhh yes I will be reporting on where we go and what we get up to lol xxx
