I'm in a world of pain! My milk came in properly yesterday and I am so full and sore, i'm getting some relief from feedings but not masses. I'm also panicking about latch as she's struggling with my areolas being so hard and my nips are already taking the hit!!

We've been doing so well this far I don't want it to go pear shaped now! xx

Try hand expressing just enough to soften enough for baby to latch on. And feed feed feed! Xx

Hand express but only enough to make you comfortable. If you get to much out your body will make more x

I once heard that cabbage leaves help soothe it, put them down your bra. It should pass once things settle.

Aw sorry Kate. I had the same issue, boobs got absolutely enormous, heavy, hot, swollen and rock solid. It's so sore at the time but it should go down in 24-48 hours. I used cold cloths and let lots of air get to them to ease it. xxx

Thanks everyone :) They're still getting uncomfortable in the run up to feedings but I think they're improving.. still struggling with latch as by the time she feeds they have gotten so full, breaks my heart seeing her getting so frustrated! Trying to time starting hand expressing just before she starts stirring.. gosh it's a fine art isn't it!

A wee tip, let baby suck on your pinkie finger (tip to roof of mouth, nail to tongue if that makes sense) to calm baby before latching on, my lb still gets a bit fussy and it works wonders to get him to relax enough to latch.

Massive congratulations btw :):)

hand expressing in the shower was the only way I managed to keep this under control, also doing a bit of massage helps if you get the chance- just keeps everything moving and prevents clogged ducts. I really recommend calling the national breastfeeding helpline as they are brilliant- really helped me with latch & positioning and also explained how to do the massage thing. Was so grateful! Congrats and good luck!
