Engorgement overnight

Don't really know whether this will naturally correct itself?

Freddie generally goes midnight to anywhere between 5 and 7 in the morning. By then I am so painfully engorged and this week I seemed to get a blocked milk duct due to this. Very often my boobs wake me up before the baby!!

Will my boobs ever realise he feeds less at night?

Yes. Eventually. How old is he?

6 weeks old.

Yeah hun it does ease. But it takes a while or him doing the same(or similar) things every night, so your boobies get used to the fact they don't need to be used during the night! X

Am I making it worse by expressing? I am so full he only takes one boob in the morning. I have to express the other as it is so painful. If baby has not woken by 6am, I have to take about 2oz off both as they are so painful!

Basically, yes! By expressing your body thinks he's using the milk. If you try and take less and less off each time - so just enough to make it comfortable, then hopefully it'll start to get better gradually x

Well our 6 week growth spurt has thrown a spanner in the works, as he is now waking at 3.30am for a feed! At least it means my boobs are not ready to explode by the morning!

Different kind of engorgement problem now - he has obviously upped my supply, as I had a couple of days of crazy boobs - so engorged between all feeds. Soooo painful, and majorly worried I was going to have a serious leak out in public, but thankfully they seem to have settled down now.

My freezer is FULL of breast milk
