Are there any mothers here who were over due with the birth of their child? Or anyone who tried methods of encouraging the onset of labour?

I am just looking to see if a bit of extra exercise on my part might help stimulate labour. At the moment I do zero extra work outs. Its because I find it a struggle to just walk up the stairs, let alone get all the house work done!

However, if it means that I am not overdue, I will at least add outdoor walks to my daily activities.

I know the baby will arrive when its good and ready and when its safest. But a late birth really worries me.

Any successful labour encouraging methods anyone can offer please?

i was 9 days over due at the end of july...hot and bothered! i tried EVERYTHING!!
pineapple, curry, long walks, sex, jumping up and down screaming!! lol
they come when they want to..and mine was lazy!

I was 14 days late. Tried everything to get laboured started. Had so much fresh pineapple my mouth was bleeding. I didn't start having mild contractions until I was 12 days over due.

I used to go for uphill walks at night with the dogs, ate loads of fresh pineapple, used my breast pump on my boobies to stimulate them, rubbed clary sage into my bump and added some to my bath, drank raspberry leaf tea from around 32 weeks and had lots of sex (around twice a day) and my bub was 3 days early. Don't know if any of it helped or whether she would've come out then, but I was so worried about being induced.

with eldest dd,i tried everything, cuyy's sex,cod liver oil(supposed to be castor oil,but someone told me cod liver, eurgh) pineapple, raspberry leaf tea from 34 weeks,i only started the morning i was going to be induced due to worry, with harry-john i ran across the road with chloe on my hip(she was 2) and i started the same morning at 38 weeks, with lily i was induced a week early

I tried Raspberry tea, pineapple, sex, walking, all the usual.

My cervix was closed and baby not engaged until I'd had my THIRD induction treatment :?

None of these things will do you any harm but I'm of the opinion that baby will come along when s/he wants to, and not before! :D

Thanks for all the tips. Every pregnancy is different though. I had to be induced with my first. She couldn't breathe properly when she was born and had to be rushed to the infirmary.

I will try all the advice listed! But I suppose the baby will come when its good and ready.
