Hi ladies,
I've been suffering since Sat with a blocked ear. (Apparently this can be pregnancy related due to increased mucus etc). Has anyone else had this?
I had an appointment with the nurse who said she could see 'white' down my ear. She asked if I'd lost anything down there....errr, not that I'm aware of?! Then said it could be discharge and then scar tissue?! Anyway, that confused me even more but was told not to use drops as no wax. Its now just very sore and achey, so I've got to ring up at 8 for a docs appointment. Hopefully its just an infection or something that he can clear up with antibiotics (if I can take them with being preg??!!!). Anyone else had this in pregnancy? Its bad enough dealing with preg pains, let alone a dodgy ear!! X

I've not had this but am sure they'll be able to give you something. Just be careful how you move about cos ear problems can cause you to lose your balance, if you feel dodgy just sit down and rest hun

Hope you feel better soon xxxxxxxxxx

I went to docs yesterday with double ear infection. I'm taking kapake every 4 hours and have antibiotic gauze packed into right ear as it's completely blocked and drops in left before it closes completely, got to see nurse daily to have packing changed. Had about 3 hrs sleep as painkillers only lasting 2 hrs. I feel like a victim in the film SAW where someone is drilling into my head one side and out the other. Usually takes 7-10 days to clear up :( feeling your pain hun xx

Omg@VickiR, that sounds bloody awful!!! I know it sounds silly, but I've even been scared to take paracetamol throughout my pregnancy - nervous about having antibiotics! Babybrain - yep, I'm all over the show! (And its made me sick!).x

Antibiotics are better than an infection hun, you need it cleared up before it gets any worse. You don't have to drive anywhere do you?

I haven't taken painkillers til now, paracetomol on it's own makes me sick, codeine is wonderstuff. Some Antibiotics are safe so don't worry :) xx

hi

i have similar problems with my left ear, feels like it needs to be popped and i can hardly hear anything, had with my last pregnancy too!!

docs just give me a spray for up my nose which helps, i suffered last time form about 28 weeks and the same this time but as soon as baby was born it disappeared and i could hear normally again :) xx

Only got to drive up the road. I'm allergic to codeine, so its not so wonderful for me! Lol! Lyndsey - you poor thing! These babies have got a lot to answer for! My plan was to have two children very close togather. BUT I've had so many problems in this pregnancy that we are seriously considering only having one child! X

I had this with my LO although I didn't have any pain it was just blocked like when you go on a plane! It took a couple
of weeks to disappear!

Well - went to Docs. She's given me some drops but said to hold off for 24hrs to see if it gets any better. She said my ear canal is slightly inflamed but that's about it!!! X

Bugger that I'd be putting the drops in :) xx
