Well I cannot express how I feel just now other than pure love, for my little girl......
If you have read my previous posts you will know I had a fairly horrendous time with hemorrhoids, it was the worst pain I think I have ever had, so being asked to come in to the hospital for a check after 2nights of no sleep, they kept me in for obs, I had visits from the senior obstetrician and a surgical SHO, it was mentioned that I wold possibly need a hemmoroidectomy, but because I was pregnant they wouldn't do the procure, great!!!! So I asked to be induced as I was 40+4, but they refused as my hospital states the won't do induction until I was 10 days over, so I asked if the mainland would do it to which they agreed, so hubby and I were packed off on the first flight to the scottish mainland for induction.
On arrival the Bolshy midwife asked why I was there and that the senior couldn't believe that my piles warranted an induction
so they were going to wait until I was 7 days over I was so upset I nearly went home. We asked to speak to a senior obstetrician to which they did a full check of my med history, I have a thyroid problem and severe SPD and when the dr check my my piles they were like ok well they are not good, well duh!! So they said I could be induced, Yeay!!
Bolshy midwife returns and said we need to examine you, ok ow ow ow - "you are not even favourable for a sweep, might take a few days for the induction to work"
- pessary inserted at 1800hrs on Wednesday 9th July, lay for a bit, chatted with hubby, ate food and chilled, feeling nothing, hubby went to the hospitals maternity accommodation to sleep at 2200hrs, at 00
5hrs put on monitor, struggled to find heartbeat, got it and midwife said just chill, about 10mins in baby gave a good move around and the heart beat disappeared, picked up a faint one at about 65beats which I just thought was mine until midwife came rushing in, made me move all over to pick up baby again, eventually found it, she said she needed to call the Dr, so I got a bit of a fright, Dr came in made me move again and then said she wanted to examine me, which to my utter shock she said I was 3cm dilated and took pessary out and I was off to the labour ward to have my waters broken, OMG!!! Ok so call hubby - 16 missed calls on 2 mobile phones he eventually answered, he forgot he had muted them whilst on the ward earlier, the light woke him up gggrrrrr!!!
Taken through to labour ward and ARM done yuk!!! Told to get up and go for a wander, well with someone that isn't suffering from SPD this might be easy lol, did my best until the contractions were kicking in fast and furious, lay down and started with Gas and air fab stuff, had a major laugh with hubby as I was giving him the G&A too this made him laugh which made me laugh hysterically and all of a sudden my contractions wouldn't stop they just kept coming, midwife came back in just as I'm ready to push, at this point my hubby and I are convinced we are having a boy, since the 20 week scan, we were so sure, we have 3 boys all ready, so were happy.
I continue pushing (I was meant to have had an epidural) but baby came so fast, couldn't handle the pelvic pain, so she went to get some morphine- in to the leg too late baby was on its way out, so at 05:25 am on 10th July 2104 weighing 8lbs8oz came my beautiful little girl - my husband had tears in his eyes as he looked at me and said "we have a girl" my heart nearly burst with emotion, I sobbed with pure happiness whilst she was cleaned and weighed, my husband cried with me telling me how proud he was of me, she was placed on my chest and we sat in silence looking at her and new we really had been blessed hence the name 'Grace'.
Morphine has kicked in at this stage, so I am away with the fairies now, apparently there were frogs and minions everywhere lol, up to post natal ward spaced out but happy, baby lost a little temperature so needed skin to skin with daddy, lovely to see.
I have a thyroid problem, so had to stay in hospital for 72 hrs to make sure baby had no obvious thyroid problems, was due to fly home on Monday night, but when I woke on Monday morning, I knew something wasn't right, tests done, scans etc turns out I had retained products (membranes) and a blood clot in my uterus causing infection
so flights cancelled.
3lots of IV antibiotics, URGH!!! and sent home on Tuesday night woohoo!! We surprised our 3 boys, never seen them look so happy.......
First night at home, no sleep but just happy to be home......yesterday I had a massive bleed and I am now sitting writing my story in a wee side room at my local hospital
everything seems settled now, blood clot still there but they won't so a D&C
antibiotics instead bleh!
My daughter beside me and I can't stop looking at her, a week old now and I'm bursting with emotion and pride, love her so much.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I know it's long but it's my story, I hope you all feel as happy as me when your babies come to meet you.
Love to you all xxxx
