Hi,

I’m booked in to have an early scan for viability at 7 weeks +2
Was just wondering if anyone else has done this and thinks it’s a good idea?
16 days till mine and I wish it would hurry up.

Thanks x

I know a few people have done it I haven't myself but I haven't had my bfp yet but I think it's a great idea it gives you some peace of mind

I don't think I'll get one until 12 weeks this time and that's such a long way away.
I am ringing drs today to tell them I'm pregnant and get the ball rolling.
I think it's normal to see the midwife around 10 weeks here.
Everything has changed since I had my little girl.
I had a scan at 7 weeks with her becuase I was bleeding.

My viability/dating scan was at 7+1. It's a routine scan here in Aus so they know when best to do the 12 week scan and also to catch an ectopic pregnancy early. You see far more cases of people losing their tubes with ectopics in the UK than here because they don't check on baby early. I'd recommend anyone get one just for that reason. But it's also lovely to know baby is in the right place and has a heartbeat :)

Aw I wish they did that here. I just need to know all ok. I’m not going to be seeing the Modwife till i’m 12 weeks for my first appointment. I think it’s to far. I found out when I was 4 weeks. I think I just need some reassurance x

Yeah i’m not due to see the Midwife till 12 weeks. Then she will book me in for a scan. I just think that’s far to long to go. She is going to ring me around end of October when I will be 12 weeks. It’s def all changed since I had my last

We had an early scan at 7+6 and it was amazing <3 i would definitely recommend it.

I know our nhs is under pressure, but they really should do the early scans like you do in Aus.

Yeah, I don't think offering one more scan would cause too much extra strain on the system if it could prevent the complications of an ectopic pregnancy.

Yea exactly, which in turn causes more work for them and this way i would assume it would be less distress to a woman if dealt with early on, i would think.

I totally agree with the reasons for early scans. If they were to pick up ectopic preganancy earleor it would stop so many emergency surgeries hopefully.
I’m def going for my scan on 22nd sept. I was just wondering if I was being neurotic lol x

Definitely not <3

Definitely not neurotic. I think most people get one just so they know everything is progressing as it should :)

I got one at 8 weeks and all didn’t seem right. So when I had bleeding at 10 weeks it wasn’t a shock, I then had two other scans which shown I had a mmc

So yes I would get one. I’d get one with my next pregnancy also but I’d probabky say wait for around the 8-9 week mark.

They might have to do a trans-vaginal (think its called that) with you being under 8 weeks, so just be prepared for that. Basically a dildo cam

I thought i was 8+4 when i went, but i was actually 7+6 but they managed to do a normal belly scan for mine <3

😂😂 dildo cam Aww that’s hilarious. I was warned about they wheni rang to book. They said would try a normal scan first then take it from there.

The only thing I would say is that 7+2 is very early and they might not be able to see anything... Only because I'm assuming 7+2 is worked out from the first day of your last period... So depending on ovulation you might not actually be that far gone. Saying that you could be further. But just don't be disheartened if you don't see much. I thought I was 7 weeks but when I went for scan I was just turned 6... They did find a heartbeat but to me it didn't look like anything! I then went back 1 week later and it was so much bigger!!! They were NHS scans but if your paying I'm not sure they will let you come back unless you pay again xx

I rang the place we are going and asked about the dates before I booked. They said that they work out scans from lmp. So they would be happy to scan them. They said that I may not see anything and there may not be a heartbeat but that didn’t mean something was wrong. If no heartbeat they would book me in for a complimentary scan a few weeks after. Xxx
