So the scan went well, had to go transvaginal which I expected because my uterus tilts so far back.

Little bean was in the right place, very tiny at 1.9mm but there was a flickering quite obvious on the screen so the lady said she's confident there's a heartbeat

I'll see later if I can post a pic!

One thing she did say is I have a 3.7cm cyst on my right ovary. She didn't seem to o concerned... I know it's new as I didn't have any when I had my fertility scans in October. Has anyone got experience of this? I have no pain or anything at this point

Congratulations on your little bean x

Don't worry about the cyst, I didn't have one.. when I had a early scan one was found on my right ovary.. when I went for another scan two weeks later, it was not there .. hopefully yours will disappear to

Great news about the scan, glad it went well x Don't worry too much about the cysts it may re-absorb x

Yay that's great news about your little bean. Wouldn't worry about the cyst personally, I get them too time to time.

Congrats xx

Thanks girls, that's good to know.

Pic of bean attached...

Congratulations!

Isnt that amazing, 1.9mm!

How far gone are you?

aw congrats. I had quite a big cyst on my ovary at 9 weeks but it had gone by 12. they're usually nothing to worry about

Thanks girls I feel much better about it

I've just looked in the notes and it also says my uterus is "enlarged" but she didn't mention that in the scan... any idea what that means?

They offered us a free rescan (not entirely sure why!) so we went back today at about 7 weeks and baby is now the size of a baked bean! Can’t get over how much it’s grown, now measuring at 1.2cm!

She said the heartbeat was really strong cos we could see it on the abdominal scan even though my bladder was empty and I have a retroverted uterus so baby is really far back in my pelvis

That's great news. So happy for you. How lucky to get an extra scan too.

Oh my, sorry I missed this. What brilliant growth...very strong baby!

Don't worry about the Cyst. Our sonographer scared us saying that but then said it was the corpus luteum and that is a perfectly normal size. It's what manages the hormones to sustain early pregnancy so absolutely normal that it's there and it may grow a bit, but it will eventually shrink and disappear!

Thanks GG. Yeah I thought it could be that but I thought if it was she would have said so instead of calling it a cyst. It had gone down to 3.2 when I went yesterday so seems ok...

Perfect, it's already on it's way! Yeah, ours kept referring to it as just a cyst. She only said corpus luteum once so I questioned her on it at the end just to make sure. I had a few other little cysty masses in my uterus, but tiny and she said nothing to worry about. I can't even remember what she called them, but she said she had them too and it never affected any of her pregnancies :)

That’s good then. I think they forget we don’t do this all the time so we need the explanation and reassurance!

I was so pleased the heartbeat was so obvious, the woman was very complimentary lol she said it looked very strong and I honk is measuring ahead of my actual dates (I know the date of conception due to fertility treatment) so I’m much more relaxed now!

Has anyone paid to have an early private scan? I'm tempted to have one done just mainly for reassurance

Yes. It was my birthday at 6+5 so I had one then and it was perfectly amazing to see the strong heartbeat. Would highly recommend xx

Yeah I would definitely recommend it, the reassurance is so worth it
