Early Scan 6 Weeks..... Whats involved?

I went to see the doc yesterday as I have been having cramps and have had some brown spotting. He said that it isn't really anything to worry about but he is sending me for a 6 week scan next week to check things out.

Has anyone had one if these, if so what's involved and should Hubby come with me?

Any advice would be appreciated as I am a little worried at the mo.

at my 6week scan it was internal. a bit uncomfy but nothing bad, your partner can be with you but i wanted my OH to wait outside

my 6 week scan is like a grain of rice with a flickering Heartbeat

mine was internal but was worth it to see the heartbeat.

my dp came in with me and saw the sceen the whole time so saw more than i did.

Hi good luck with your scan I had a at six weeks and it was external and then internal my DH came with me and I was glad of his support. I've also been for a private seven week scan and it was external

I've had 2 early scans both were internal, one at 5w6d and one at 7w5d don't worry if you can't see the heart at exactly 6 weeks, i panic'd and thought i'd lost our baby but it was just a teeny bit too early to see the heart beat, on the next one it was pounding away and all was fine.
My scan was very "clinical" sorry can't think of any other way to put it, DH came with me and into the room with me as if it was bad news i wanted him there, i had to lay on a table with my back side hanging off the edge and my feet on a chair to support myself and basically sit/lay in the smear position,
The scan was uncomfortable but not painful, if you feel sore or pain just make sure you tell the sonographer, although mine was a dragon i'm sure yours will be lovely,

my 6 week scan was internal for same reason as you early bleeding

I have had 2 early scans, one at 5 and a half weeks and that was external and last week had one and that had to be internal as she couldn't see the little bugger! Doesn't hurt just not very dignified but then what is in pregnancy

i had one on monday at 6wks 2 days had to be internal as couldnt see well enough via external. Its such a better pic tho saw bubs little heart beat

i had a scan at 7weeks which was external.

im amazed at how many people have had an internal scan.
