Early pregnancy testing?

Hi ladies

I believe I was fertile between the 26th December and 2nd January. I have no idea when I ovulated however! my cervix didnt seem to close for a while! now it has turned completely away as though it doesnt want me to touch the 'dimple'
I thought there was a good chance I concieved but testing with an early pregnancy test of 10mIU has proved negative When is the earliest we can test? Have I done it too early?

I think the earliest you can test with getting a definite result is 4 days before af is due (that's what I did and got a +ve) but it's best to wait until you're almost due on if not later as your hormone level will double every 48 hours if you're pregnant so you'll get a stronger reading.
