I am seeing my consultant on Monday, he was reluctant to let me go any further 2 weeks ago but decided to give her another two weeks to cook,

I went to my antenatal class last week and she said that early inductions very rarely work and usually end up in a c section,

Has anyone else been induced 36-37 weeks and giving birth naturally?

I am going to discuss a c section with them anyway due to her size but would like to know other peoples experiences before i go.

i didnt get induced at 26 , i got induced at 34  and i most definatly gave birth naturally ! if your body id ready wether it be 34 week or 42 natural is possible , if your body isnt ready and having none of it then these are what end up in section .

I was induced at 7 days overdue and my cervix was infavourable even though i'd gone past my due date. I think it depends on how ready your body is rather than how far along you are :)

i was induced at 35 weeks and would have given birth naturaly if it hadnt been for her size so i dont see why you wouldnt be able to do it hun

My sister was induced at 28 weeks and was fine. She was in labour about 5.5 hours.

I was induced at 36 weeks as I had pre-eclampsia with my oldest and had a lovely (!) 6 hour natural labour. But they managed to break my waters without any start off so my body must have started chucking her out anyway! Lol!

By the way, question for all these ladies getting induced because of big babies, well just how big are we talking? Cos my 3rd was 10lb when she was born at 40+5 and her shoulders got stuck (shoulder dystocia). Despite this, my midwife said that it is very unlikely they will consider inducing me early this time round even though she said this one will prob be even bigger. I'm a bit scared I'm gonna split in 2! What can I do?

i was in labour 2hrs 34mins!!!!

Not heard that before from my midwife or ante natal classes. I was induced at 35 weeks and had a natural birth.

Thanks for everyones replies

I would prefer not to have a c section in one respect but as my SPD is really painful and i struggle to lie in one position for longer than 30 mins when on my back, i am worried about the constant monitoring that may come with the induction as its really going to hurt me,

She is back to back at the minute which will cause me more problems i am sure with her being big just hope she hasnt put on so much weight again in these 2 weeks

Also if i dont have a c section then i can be mobile and be taken to see her in special care if she has to go in, but fingers crossed she wont

i was induced at 37 weeks and had to have constant monitoring. when i went into to started, it turns out i was already 1cm dilated. each person is different, just depends on how ready your body is.

I was started the morning of the 5th and i had alice the following lunchtime. i was adimant that i was going to end up having a c-section and i didn't. looking back im even surprised i didn't have an epidural!

just try and remember that at the end of the day the hospital will do what is best for you and bubs. for me, i would tell myself as long as the result is the same i didn't want to focus on how we got there.

Just to say I was induced at term +11 and my cervix wasn't favourable even then. They soon made it favourable enough to pop my waters and then she was born in 8 hours. I don't think term matters so much, just how ready your body is. It could just take a while.

I really don't know about big babies and induction because of them but with your history I would definitely bring up your concerns with your MW, and you should be able to have serial growth scans later on in your pregnancy and be offered some other options with managing your birth

Thanks Redshoes. :) Think I'm gonna ask again next time I see her and maybe ask for a second opinion if she still won't take me seriously. :x
