What's the earliest a midwife will do a sweep? I'm so fed up am wondering if she'll do one at my appointment tomorrow at 38+6 with no medical reason to xx

My midwife said 41 weeks for first babys 40 weeks for subsequent. It seems to vary though xx

I was booked in for one on my due date with my first baby but 3 hours before the appointment my waters went naturally. They won't sweep if the baby's head isn't engaged either as that could cause problems with the cord slipping in front of baby (I couldn't have one with my second for that reason). I'm sure most places say not before 40 weeks x

Mine won't before 41 weeks AND baby's head is engaged.

DS failed part two of that for 4 days. Rotten little guy.

I had mine at 39+1 then at 40+1 (but it actually ended up as 49+2 as I was too sore on 40+1 then ended up in labour on the evening of 40+1!)

I'm not sure whether baby is engaged or not to be honest. Felt like it was heading that way a few days ago but not anymore. Eryinera did you ask for the sweep at 39+1 or was it offered? I'll let you know what my midwife says later. She'll probably laugh at me because last time I saw her I said I wanted minimal medical intervention and a home birth now I'm chomping at the bit to go into hospital and be induced asap!!! Lol!!! Xx

I was judt offered it by my consultant glad your getting one soon though
