I didn't post yesterday because I seriously lost the plot, there was definitely some hormonal stuff going on. I'm feeling a bit more rational now. I just want to know if I am justified in sending and e-mail or whether I'm just being a brat.

Basically we went to order our nursery furniture yesterday. We've been very lucky and family have contributed towards buying the Silver Cross set we really wanted. Anyway we could have ordered this set from numerous places as it comes direct from Silver Cross regardless of where you buy it and it's always the same price (believe me I've looked for offers and savings).

We decided to buy it from John Lewis because we have a John Lewis credit card and we'll get vouchers back from spending the money there. We can pay the money straight back off the card so no loss there. The other reason for using John Lewis is generally they are on the ball and can tell you what to expect, lead times, who'll contact you etc.

OK it was Saturday and they were busy but even so we had issues getting help. To be frank the sales people in the Nursery section were like (please excuse the phrase) flys round sh!t with very obviously pregnant looking ladies. This made me feel awful so I obviously just look fat and not pregnant. We eventually got some help. Unfortunately the girl who served us didn't really have a clue and was totally disinterested. I won't go into the full story other wise we'll be here all day but the upshot was we had to tell her that it came direct from Silver Cross and had to keep asking her to check lead times and details of how we would be contacted etc so she had to keep going off to ask someone. Eventually she caught on that it came direct from Sliver Cross and would never come direct from John Lewis at which point she just ordered it over the internet which we could have done from home!

I was just so disappointed with the whole thing because we had been really looking forward to doing this. We got none of the reassurances we wanted regarding the process to which was the whole point of doing it. And several times she told us information which was just plan incorrect and we had too ask to get her to check. To be honest I've had better experiences with them buying little items never mind dropping a shed loada cash on big items.

Lol I've had things like that in mamas and papas, they only talk to you when you take the buggy down off the stand and start playing with it!

It's supposed to be an exciting experience for you.. If she killed it (clearly!!) then u should complain.. Hopefully she will get further training or be warned.. Therefore a better experience for someone else!

Sorry to hear you had such a shit time babe xxx

Just feel daft because its such a trivial thing to get upset about. It's just I'm pretty sure this is my one chance as I'm pretty old and just wanted to enjoy it as much as possible.

Nah don't feel bad, I understand how dissapointing it must have been, I would write a letter of complaint regarding her customer service skills, she will hopefully recieve more training and you should at least have an.apology which may make you feel a bit better x

I'd def send an email/letter to complain. It's a massive thing buying tour nursery things, never mind the money aspect.

John Lewis are normally really good so complain. As my dad says if you don't as you don't get. I reckon you'll get some vouchers out of them and although it won't make yesterday and better you can treat yourself to something else!!

Aw Hun  can totally sympathise. Apart from anything else these people should realise that they are dealing with pregnant women who can be sensitive about stuff at the best of times, no matter shoddy service  x

I wouldn't say John Lewis were any better than any other shops - i've had a bad experience with them & their clueless staff too.

I would definately do a complaint email explaining it all - and say in the email you'll be sending this by recorded delivery too (so they cant say they didn't receive) i'd say given the fact you have a credit card with them, they should give you some sort of money off vouchers or something.

:)

Don't feel silly making a complaint.. If u don't she will never learn x
