I've just given my 2 week old a dummy and feel terrible for it as frightened it will mess up my breastfeeding. He won't settle otherwise though, he won't even comfort suck on my nipple he just gets frustrated.

Has anyone actually had breastfeeding disrupted because they introduced a dummy this early?

My little girl is 4 weeks and we just gave her a dummy and it hasn't interferred with Breast feeding. I'm aldo giving her a bottle of expressed milk as her last feed before bed time and she hasn't changed her feeding with that either. But I was scared it would ruin all my hard work too x

Thanks :)

I think I'm going to try my hardest to keep off the dummies and bottles for another couple of weeks just in case.

My dd wouldn't have it she just spat it out! Xx

My daughter will take a dummy, bottle and boob she's not fussy!!

Gave my son a dummy at the same time (two weeks old) and it never caused any issue. I think the nipple confusion thing is very rare. For me, the dummy was a source of salvation; my little one stopped using my nipple for comfort and I finally managed to get some rest!

I've had to give in and start using a dummy in his grumpy evening periods. It normally falls out when he falls asleep though so then I take it away. Hopefully that restricted use for the next few weeks will mean there's no issues.
