My little boy is just over 2 and half and has been out of nappies in the day for the past 6 months and hasnt had an accident for a long time now. Trouble is he has a nappy for bed which is soaking in the morning. I realise this may indicate he's not ready but he really hates wearing his nappy.
He has a cup of milk before bed which i now give a while before he goes then try him on the toliet before i put his nappy on. Ive also reduced his milk a bit but he loves it. Even doing this though his nappys still drenched each morning.

Should i try him or wait till his nappy becomes drier? and i may sound stupid but how do you go about it as ive heard some people wake them to try them on but id worry he wouldnt go back to sleep!

I wouldn't worry hun, they all do it more or less in their own time

My third was 2 last month and is dry by day but he wakes with a wet nappy and gets really frustrated at it. I'm just gonna wait till the nappy starts getting dryer then attempt the night - time

obviously all kids are different, but my daughter was dry during the day and confident on the loo, but like your son would always have a wet nappy. I realised with her though, that she just associated the nappy with weeing in it. If i put her in a pull up during the day, she would just wee in it and not tell me she needed the loo. So I took her out of a nappy and night. Covered her mattress in those night pad things and she was dry :D
She just knew she had a nappy on.
Plus, if I know she's had a lot to drink I wake her and take her to the loo - i keep the lights low and don't talk to her and she barely wakes up.

I was really lucky with Aimee and when she came out of nappies in the day at 2 years and a bit, she also came out at night on her own. She just started waking with a dry nappy on and even waking in the night for a wee and wouldn't do one in her nappy. I put her in pull ups at night for about a month just to be sure but she never had a wee in them at all. She was so easy. Jess, my eldest wasn't so easy, she came out of nappies in the day at 2 and a half but didn't come out of them at night till she was almost 4. I wouldn't worry too much just yet. The only things you can really do is say no drinks after 6pmish, get them to go for a wee before bed or even wake them for a wee in the night. I've not had to do that myself though and have found it just naturally happens when they are ready.

DD was the same, if she had a nappy on she would wee in it, yet if she had knickers on she'd ask for a wee.

At night time we would get her to "try for a wee" before bed but then I would also get her up when I went to bed (about 10:30) and sit her on the potty and say very quietly "do a wee-wee". The same as with dream-feeds, for this wee, she wouldn't wake up properly, just enough to do a wee and then go back to sleep. Worked a treat for us.
