My little girl is coming up to a year in a couple of weeks and her routine is usually waking at 7.30/8, nap at 10ish for an hour. Then afternoon nap 2.30-4 then asleep by 7.30. She seems to be needing her morning nap less and less and am considering dropping it all together however my eldest didn't do this until she was 17 months! Is 12 months not a bit early to drop to 1 nap a day? I'd be very interested in hearing what anyone's experiences are. Thanks!

My little boy is 14 months and down to one nap, usually 10:30 until 12:30, then he'll be up until time bedtime between 6/6:30pm.

It's not necessarily too early. My son has always only ever had one proper nap, usually around 11.30am-1pm. My daughter did have two naps when she was little. I'm trying to think when she gave up her morning one, but it definitely went way before her afternoon nap (she temporarily gave up her pm nap at 2 years old and reinstated it around 2.5 years old for 6 months or so). It must have been when she was around a year old.

You could still offer the nap as it's still nice for them to have quiet time. My son (almost 2) has decided he doesn't always need his nap but I still give him some time in bed as quiet time to calm him down. He then has the option to sleep if he wants.

James only ever had one nap (from about a year on) but it would always be a lovely 2 hour snooze. He'd sleep maybe 1-3 which wasn't ideal but we'd go out early or he'd sleep in pram.

Bee doesn't nap so she has nothing to drop.

I can't remember exactly when my eldest dropped to one nap, but it was probably some time around a year old. He went to having one long nap around 11am until about 1pm. If we were out he'd have a shorter nap in the pram and then might have had a little cat nap later in the afternoon. But he was generally only sleeping a couple of hours a day.

Thanks for the responses ladies! I guess I'm struggling to get my head around it because I still see her as a 12 week old not a 1yr old. With my eldest when she got to 1 I could accept it, it went much slower than this time round.
I did actually try her on one nap today and put her down after lunch at 12.30 and she slept till 3.30, which is amazing and coincided with my toddlers nap. So I guess I'll keep this going.x

Oh Goat, that's what I feel like with my youngest. He will be six months old on Sunday and I just feel like where the hell did the time go?! It seems like two minutes ago he was a little squishy newborn.

when they do not need 2 naps a day, it's usually easier to move the one nap to the middle of the day - my 18mo daughter and the 10mo baby I mind currently both sleep from 11am-1pm :)
