We keep wondering whether we should buy one or not. Worried that I might end up worrying because I can't get it to work right, and also because 30 quid is a lot of money. On the other hand they seem to offer a lot of reassurance. What's the verdict of those people who have one?

Thanks

I liked mine to start off with but it quickly became a waste of money when bub started moving. It can reassure in the early days, though, but then it's often difficult to find the heartbeat in the early days too which of course can make you worry more.

I would say worth every penny and more! I used mine all the time but then I did have a few bleeds in my pregnancy so the reassurance was needed for me. I used to get it out before MW appointments so I knew there was a heartbeat before we got there!! Mine is so worn out now, I got an angelcare one off of ebay. Next time I would get the more expensive bebe ones.

I would say they are worth it, i think we paid £29.99 or something like that, for the AngelSounds one with gel! although i have started to feel her kick ,its not every day so i still use my doppler to give me reasurance - i used to loads in the early days to give me peace of mind and i love it, think its fantastic and at £30 you cant go wrong!! :D

I think for me it was totally worth it, it was a nice way to bond with my LO and for my OH to feel more apart of it all by using it aswell to find LO's heartbeat.
It also became very handy if i felt 'unpregnant' as you can do sometimes so that i could have the reassurance of hearing LO's heartbeat.. i was especially glad i had bought my doppler when i had a car accident at 17weeks pregnant it was such a relief to be able to listen to my LO's heartbeat as soon as i got home! x

I had the angelsounds one. It was so useful for puttin my mind at ease in the last few weeks of pregnancy when Logans movements were slowing down due to him running out of space. Id have been on the phone to the midwive every other day without it :)

 I think I used mine once.

TBH I found that by the time I could hear a strong heartbeat I could feel baby moving anyway!

Thanks for all your input. We've also talked to the midwife about it yesterday and she strongly advised us against it for the same reasons as midna has given, so I guess I'll stick with her advice. It's good to see other people's input on here, too, so thanks.

Incidentally she used this doppler thing on me for the first time yesterday. My partner is now convinced that I'm pregnant with the TARDIS judging by the sound it makes.

I had the Angel Sounds one and I loved using it. It gave me reasurance and I found it a great bonding tool. xxx

I used mine a lot at the start and found it really reassurring and worth every penny. Now baby is moving im not using it as much.
