Hi everyone

Looking for some help as am at my wits end !!

Ok so as far as I can remember Iv always had irregular periods, then in 2011 I fell pregnant with out having a period for 6 month prior.

Sally I miscarried , av not used contraception since then and my periods have still been all over the place. I was going 3/5 months without one.

I went to my GP had bloods done and everything showed up fine. Basically I was just told to get on with it and they would sort them selfs out.

Then in August last year I though great my periods are returning I got one
6th August
27th September
10th November.

All lasting 7 days.

Then after my last period nothing.

So I left it till a cupple of week ago and went back and demanded something was done I'm 25 and want to start a family !!!

Finally Dr ordered bloods. Took my symptoms

*missing periods
*facial hair
*weight gain
* and heavy periods (when I got them)

Few days later got a phone call. Bloods were back and it showed high testosterone levels and Dr was 85% sure I had pcos. As u can imagine I was over the moon not the fact that I could have this horrible illness but the face something showed up as abnormal!!

Dr ordered a ultrasound to check for cysts in a few weeks time.

Well a week b4 the scan 24th June 2015 bloody af arrived !!!

So had the scan went back to the Drs and results were CLEAR I mean com on. !! Not one cyst in sight ??? Like wtf. So I seen the Dr and he said I didn't have pcos and he couldn't put me on the pill cause I was over weight ( currently lost 16lbs in 8 weeks ) so I went away feeling shit again !!!! And no further forward.

So I started losing weight and thought my period will come in July. Well low and behold nothing !!! As I write this am 36 days late so far !!!

So after a good talk with my mother in law I decided enough was Enough ..
I went bk to the Dr and demanded I wanted something done or I wasn't leaving his office !!!

Through gritted teeth the Dr has referred me to a gynocolagyst and I see them on the 30th September. I'm trying to lose as much weight as I can till then so they can't blame my weight as I no deep down its not that !! When I was 8st wet through I still had this problem. Am not stupid tho i know my weight could be effecting my cycles so that's why am dieting ,

So really my question to you lady's is.

Any advice ??
What should I expect from my 1st visit at the gynocolagyst?

Really don't no what else to do ?

Thanks for listening and sorry for the long post !!!!! Xx

Have they checked your fsh levels. They weren't going to check mine because of my age but one of the doctors ( fertility specialist GP) suggested testing that too. Not all doctors will do it.

Welcome to the club hun. It sounds like you definitely have PCOS.

I am 8 stone btw, have regular periods and no excess body hair... But I still have it. You don't need every symptom to have it.

I was initially referred to a gynaecologist who ended up discharging me. I had years of bleeding for weeks and doctors shrugging it off before I finally got a diagnosis in June.

If I were you, I would assume you do have it and look to start understanding it. It is an endocrine disorder so the issues with your insulin will have a knock on effect on your other hormones. Diet and exercise are key. Refined sugar and simple carbs are bad. You can get supplements like chromium, cinnamon, inositol to help.

It is frustrating and you would think doctors would know more about it by now but apparently not xxx

Hey Lucy. What's fsh levels ?

Hi phonixgirl. My result for insulin resistance was normal. :/. Al just have to see what she suggests :(. I just want a definite answer and a way forward :(. X

They are hormone levels based on if you aren't getting periods. Normal is under 10 I think. 12 is bad, I was 60 but got it down naturally. It's worth asking if it'd been tested as all the symptoms you've described I had all of them

This sounds a lot like the situation I was in two years ago. Good news and bad news........I am 13weeks pregnant after 1 cycle of super ovulation IUI. But I still really have no idea what was actually wrong. Initial I was told mild PCOS but even the doctors don't seem set on this diagnosis. I went through 6 months of Clomid with bloods showing I was ovulating but nothing then had HSG which came back all clear. Was finally at that point referred to fertility clinic to have a go at IVF. First thing they did was internal scan showed almost no follicles, I was gutted as you can imagine. I was told IVF would likely not work as I also had a AMH so low they didn't know how I ever ovulated! As a last ditch attempt they offered Super Ovulation IUI as they thought they might manage to stimulate 1 or 2 follicles, well it worked first time and OH and I are counting the hours till our dating scan tomorrow :-)
I am over the moon after 4 years but to be honest I still worry about what life will be like post baby as I really can't go back to heavy periods lasting weeks. So anyway, not sure I have helped but hopefully will give you some faith that even without answers your baby dreams can still come true. Take care of yourself and good luck with the diet, its tough but worth it. xxx
