Anyone else having a girl who really doesn't like pink?

I'm so ruddy sick of there being 20 pink things to every 3 non pinks. I want girly stuff, but funky, girly stuff - not just ruddy pink!

I went to Tesco's today to get some bottoms and gave up with the girls gear. I bought some boys khaki greens instead 'cos I think thye'll look pretty cool mixed with girly tops.

I just want to know if the shops are missing a mini population of pink haters or if it's just me?!

i agree, its the same wih blue for a boy.... I like purples / greens etc.. but then thats what i'm buying as i don't know what we're having yet.

Next are very good for funky clothes, but get the catalogue as they have a mich larger selection. But they are funky but do have pink as well.

I know what you mean, my 6yr old dd isnt a pinky at all. We have just re decorated her room and she chose navy blue for the walls with yellow star stickers.

If I take her clothes shopping I know better than to pick up anything pink or I get that condescending look that only a 6yr old can give

I find Matalan do a nice range for the older girl that isnt too pink and frilly.

I've been trying to get most of my stuff second hand - the less I spend the longer I can stay home with bub. I went into Next today and there were whole racks of pink but the occasional lush non pink dress etc, just really pricey. I'll have a look at Next online too though.

I got some GORGEOUS rainbow tie died stuff as a pressy from America, it made me want more of the same.

Adams do jungle themed clothing which could be for either a boy or girl, they had some really cute green and cream 2 pack of baby leggings/thin trousers which my mum was gonna buy for LO (who's a boy) but they're too girlie in a non-girlie kind of way!! :?

Team green but have to say I am not a fan of pink or any of the glittery fussy stuff that comes with it. A few things maybe but I can't be doing with the pink thing too much.

I'd avoid it like the plague unless my LO adores it, but even then I'd be in moderation.

I'd never go for pink in a nursery either. We opted for yellows, orange, green and blue. Funky and cheerful but good for a boy or girl.

Blue isn't so bad, but again I veer more toward other colours also.

I feel exactly the same, I have a daughter aged 4 and find plenty of funky things at H&M and Gap. I hate pastels too.

I'm going to attempt anti pink brainwashing... don't laugh, that and not joining the 'Young Conservatives' are both very important to me.

Adams does seem to have some cool stuff, mostly for 3-6 months plus though (unless counting pink and/or cream). I'll have to have a look at BHS too.

Half the problem is that I'm keeping to sales/second hand really carefully because I just think of it as either posh clothes or my time with LO - so it's a no brainer really.

Hey - I'll have such a cool non pink selection when she grows out of stuff that maybe I can make it a selling point for ebay?

I don't know what we are having but after 3 nephews, if Flump is a boy, it will make a refreshing change to go out and buy pink. However, I will still be more than happy to buy more blue cos this time it'll be for our own baby :D

I rather like pink
But i have noticed the lack of non-pink girls stuff!!!!
I bought my LO some shoes from the boys section, they were funky! xx

I wish there were more bright pink and blue's rather than just pastels. Not a big fan of pastels.

I HATE pink, LOL paradysso knows that too cos when we go shopping together i always moan about the lack of non pink girls clothes, it frustrates me so much!

Isla is currently wearing blue jeans, khaki socks and t shirt and a blue top over the top. She does have pink stuff but i try to tone it down with other colours and wouldnt deck her out in all pink.

Likewise i like red and greens on boys. :cheer:

*butts in from first tri*

I'm really pleased I found this thread, I can't stand pink - I thought it was just me :D

Before I got pregnant, I was really worried about having a girl until I realised it came down to my dislike of pink. Now it has finally dawned on me that I can dress my kid in anything I like, I would be equally pleased to have a girl or a boy. We've already told family that we would prefer no pink items if we have a girl and I think everyone else is happy with that except for one Aunt-to-be who said that she will be buying a pink and frilly dress in spite of our wishes  Obviously if our kid, when old enough to express an opinion, be it a boy or a girl, wanted to wear pink, I would let it!

In my furtive pre-12 week forays into Mothercare I was horrified by the 'pink' section and couldn't see any neutral alternatives. I've just had a look at Next on-line and really like the black and white stuff. I shall be checking out BHS and Adams too. Thanks for the ideas :D

Can I join the anti-pink team?

I am kind of dreading getting presents when the baby is born cos I just know people will go mad for pink stuff! Everything seems to be that horrible sugary pink too, might not be so bad if you could get a more dusty pink or bright raspberry sort of pink....or even RED!
I keep looking at baby boys stuff and thinking how much nicer it is!!
My fave outfits that I have for Bean already are a purple stripey babygro and a little yellow dress with retro flowers that my Mum bought us!
Mothercare have some lovey non-pink things for older babies though and I saw quite a bit of brown in Boots today which looked quite cool.

Get yourself to H&M, cheap and they don't suscribe to the idea that alll ittle girls need towear pink. I did buy a pink top from there but it had skulls all over it so I was ok with that.

The EXACT pink produced at kiddies birthday parties when too much strawberry jelly and cream got served! Wrong pink, warped pink, sicky pink.

I wonder if you can get hyper sensitive, super soft clothes dye?
