Hey everyone,
I have my first doctor's appointment on Weds, and just wondering what to expect; will he set me up with a midwife and a scan there do you think? I asked some people around, and they seemed to think that's what happened, at least here. Such a hassle, because my home's hospital got rid of their whole maternity wing (apparently women don't have children anymore here!) so have to go to one further away. I get the feeling it's all going to be a bit haphazard... not very reassured, it'd be so nice to be near the hospital just in case, but I suppose I'll get my details from the doctor?

Hi Marley, I imagine he'll set you up with a midwife who should set you up with a scan at 12 weeks.
Fancy getting rid of the maternity wing!

It is the most ridiculous situation - no maternity wing and no a&e either. The car ride to the nearest hospital is 40 minutes away, so it's a bit nerve-wracking knowing you have a drive ahead of you too. I think it being my first baby doesn't help, it's all so new and scary! And not to mention tiring, I'm so tired but can't sleep, stupid hormones!
And thanks for the info Hollyhobby :)

I posted this under another thread, but I'm so annoyed at my judgemental doctor that I'm spreading the word!

:) Thanks, I do feel better. Saw the doctor today - mostly he was useless, and I got a fabulous lecture on 'the statistics of young single mothers, and shouldn't a university student know better?' which is always enjoyable
But I'm seeing a midwife on Friday, which is quick, and she's going to try and get me a scan next week! So that's exciting!
