This is my friend I'm talking about.......
She has a 12 week old baby boy who drinks 4 8oz bottles and sleeps for 12 hrs each night.

Now up until thurs next week, everything was fine but James started being really sick after his bottle, so my friend rang HV who suggested James went onto baby gavicson. So James has been o Gavisicon all weekend, and is still being sick, so my friend took James to the doctor today who told Charlotte she is feeding her baby too much, a 12 week old baby should not be drinking 4 bottles he should be drinking 7 each day. Can i just say James goes 4hrs beween each feed. The doctor told Charlotte she needs to start giving James 7 bottles and start feeding him threw the night??????

OK I personally think Doc is being silly......was just wondering what are your thoughts on this//??????

All I can tell you is that Tim has 3 BFs a day (7.30am, 11.30am and 3.30pm, and then a 7 oz bottle at 6.00pm and then anything between 11oz-14oz (he's a piggy!!!) at 8.30/9.00pm and he doesn't feed again until 7.30/8.00am the next day...

He has had it a couple of times where ALOT of formula has come back up, but it turns out that he just had a bit of wind stuck somewhere, so now we just wind him a little more often during his feed and the vomiting stopped...

If he is draining the bottles but being sick I would be inclinded to feed more more bottles with less oz in them. I dont know that I would feed through the night tho if he didnt usually get it.

Little and often, like a kitten :D

i say hv my lo has slep thru the night for 10 hrs since she was 6 weeks and from 12 weeks has had 5 bottles a day of 6/7oz so not much difference. i would stick with baby gaviscon or ask hv for more advice. they see kids all day every day whereas docs dnt really specialise in children so doc may not have seen this before whereas hv could have seen plenty of babies with this problem.

xxxxx

My boy at 12 weeks had between 7/9oz bottles every 3 hours without fail and that was including through the night aswell, he was always being sick/reflux, gaviscon didnt work at all and we were told that as long as he was putting weight on we had to just deal with him being sick and that he will take what he wants. So my suggestion would be give him what he wants.
Saying that though if it has only just started then it might be that he needs a soya based milk as reflux doesnt normally just start randomly i dont think. But speak to you HV and see what she says.
