Working tax credit and child benfit?

Filling out forms today and really don't know what each thing is so just going to send in both forms. Does amount earnt last year make a difference to either of these things as DH got made redundant and is earning £10k less this year?

This has probably been asked a million times already, sorry.

I believe that your child benefit would stay the same but the working tax credit would change. id ring the advice line. Im off to the Citizens advice bureau tomorrow to ask lots of questions.

Everyone is entitled to child benefit.
Child tax credit and working tax credits are on the same application form (I think/hope) and they are means tested. The form is based on last year's income so you have to fill it out accordingly. You can either call them to explain the change in financial circumstances after they have processed your claim or wait until the end of the financial year and tell them what you income was so they can work out how much they owe you. If you receive less than you are entitles to in the tax year they give it to you. If you are paid more than you are entitled to they take it back.
