Do cheques run out?

I am so skint at the mo, an have to go to the bank to pay in my birthday cheques, but I came across a cheque from xmas... can I pay it in or have I passed any time limit.

I think they only last 6 months (But don't quote me on that)

Most cheques are valid for 6 months unless it states otherwise on the cheque. You can get the person who wrote the cheque to change the date and sign the correction.
