Im 25+3 now and I didnt buy anything at all until after my 20week scan. Now though Ive gone mad in the sales and Ive got the majority of things that we need as I thought it made sense while they were reduced. We havent got the nursery ready yet so everything is stored in a cupboard for now but to be honest Im itching to get the nursery done too

Do any of you think its bad luck to get everything ready early? Or are you all super organised?! We have the pram sat downstairs although it is folded up and hidden in a corner, the car seat arrived today and my mum is hopefully dropping off the cot this week. As well as that Ive got a moses basket, play mat, clothes, steriliser etc all sat in a pile in the cupboard but Im beginning to worry I might be tempting fate or something :?

Im just always quite organised and the thought of bubba arriving and me not being ready fills me with complete panic!

I wouldnt worry hun.
I been buying bits since I found out.
Im only 19 weeks and iv only got a few more bits left to buy.
Im just too impatient to wait
I guess it just depends on how superstitious(sp?) you are.
I dont believe in all this about tempting fate really.
Have fun shopping hun :cheer:

Thanks for that, I feel a bit better now. I was in Mothercare and the assistant asked my mum who was with me if she should deliver everything to her house instead of mine as its bad luck and it freaked me out a bit! Im not usually worried about things like that but it made me think and a few people have said it since. I'll just tell myself Id be more stressed if I didnt have anything ready and thats more likely to be bad for bubba!

Suppose it depends on whether you believe in luck or not! I don't so I would say buy whatever you want :D Getting things early isn't going to harm your baby, thats the way I look at it.

personally i dont believe in all that bad luck stuff, always think of the black cat tale, some consider it good luck to have a black cat cross your path, others think its bad luck, so doesnt that say its nonsense! (just my opinion!)
i've been getting bits and pieces gradually together, and despite being told its bad luck, have a pram in the flat even though the baby hasnt been born!

nope but im trying my hardest not to buy anything. we got a bag full of baby things at new year off my aunty and my sister is going CRAZY!! Shes buying stuff all the time for our little one

to be honest i think its a load of rubbish all this bad luck stuff(but thats just my opionion) ive got everything for my baby, purely because ive already got 2 kids, so ive had everything in the loft since before we even started trying, so would people think thats bad luck? if you want to be perpared and get everything organised then id do it, stress isnt good for you or bubba so if getting the nursery in place will easy the stress then so be it.

I think it's bad luck if you miss the sales and have to pay twice the price later. ;)

All my stuff I order off Mothercare came today. Terry nappies YAY! We got the pushchair last week.... veeeeeery excited :D :D :D

I promised myself I'd wait until after Christmas, but MiL says she and SiL have been shopping for awhile :)

Thanks everyone, thats very true that it would be more unlucky to spend twice as much  Im just going to go on ahead and get everything prepared then and not listen to anyone who tells me its bad luck! I cant seem to stop now Ive started anyway

I've bought my pushchair and Little Lamb nappies so far

No i don't think its bad luck. I think its a lucky baby to have a well prepared mum

lol it's not bad luck at all i have a crib up, pram in the house, clothes all ready to put in wash and moses basket oh and a bouncy chair :D i think it's best to be prepared earlier than later when your struggling to afford everything know what i mean

  I agree! As soon as I had my scan two weeks ago, I was off buying stuff in the sales! I don't belive it's bad luck, I'd rather be well prepared and have everything I need in advance! I've got most of the stuff I need like the moses basket, cot, pram, etc., from when Amber was born but have been out going mad buying blue things! :D

My nursery is completed - has been for 4-5 weeks or so. Pram is ordered - just little things to get now..

Bad luck to baby shop???? Obviously a scam made up by men!

Ha ha, very true :rotfl: I think my OH might have made that scam up by himself, he nearly had a heart attack when he opened the cupboard where Ive hidden all the baby things

i think its better to buy thing sooner rather than later when u have a huge bump and have to shop around when u can be resting knowing everything is sorted and ready for lil baba. I have to start soon, the only thing is where to start and i havnt made a decision wether to use terry nappies, to breastfeed and wether to buy a pram. Plus when u apply for the maternity grant how long does it take ?

I've only heard that keeping the pram at home is bad luck which I think is rubbish. Saying that, ours comes today and is going to be kept at mums! I'm such a hypocrite! It's only because we've got no room at ours at the moment.

Our nursery is almost finished apart from a changing unit/chest of drawers which we'll get soon. It's definately better to be well prepared rather than leaving things to last minute just because of superstitions! x

Our pram is at my Mum's house, but only because we're in the middle of decorating several rooms, and the last thing we need is more stuff cluttering the place up!

I don't believe in any of that superstitious nonsense tbh, and as everyone has said, it makes sense to spread to cost and get some sale bargains. We'd have more if it wasn't for the decorating going on, we just don't have anywhere to put it!
