When did you move Dior into a big bed? I think that I will do this instead of buying another cot (obviously nearer the time).

I feel a trip to Ikea coming on........

my daughter (eldest one) moved into a big bed when she was 15 months old. I needed the cot for her baby sister
However my other two were lfet in a cot until they started climbing out and it became unsafe. Cots are great!

Of course, lol, I just could remember Dionne saying about Dior's bed so that's why I thought I'd shout for her attention. Plus I knew that other peeps would read so would probably answer too

what i did was put a bed in the same room as Emily(my eldest) and her cot BEFORE second child came along. Emily explored the bed and occasionally slept in it. It got her used to it beforei had to kick her out of her cot for the baby.

I put Jessica into a big bed at about 22 months so I could get her used to it before baby came. Its all went very well. Its the same bed as the one Dionne posted and has a removeable side bar which covers half the bed and at the other side is a panel. She has never fell out it and when she has her gro bag on doesnt try to get out.

The only thing I was keen on was the choice of mattresses so I too the mattress out her cot bed. Its shorter than the bed but I stuffed a pillow down and put soft toys there so thats fine.

We had a few bad nights but I think that was a combination of teething and the heat. Other than that its been easy 8)

hubbys just reminded me hat we did actually have two cots for a while (i forgot).
So he says Emily went in a big bed when she was about 18 months or so. Apparantly she swapped from cot to bed from night to night depending in what mood she was in!

luke was able to climb out of his cot by 12 months old so had to put him in a bed bought a bed but only put the mattress there for first few months in case he fell out put base on at about 18 months and then had bean bags on floor in case xxx

I think what I will do is buy the bed and set it up in Ella's room then gradually move her over when the baby comes. The new baby will be in our room in their crib at first, so it wont be for a few months that we'll need the cot....hmmmm

Hi kina i was the same didnt no weather to buy a cot or not, but Dior is still in her cot now no where near ready for a bed. she has a big cot bed so i got harl a 2nd hand lil cot from ebay then when he is about 9months he can have her cot bed and she will have the lil white princess one from ikea
