Right

I'm 30 next month, and have wanted a party all year....but I've just been too busy to organise one.
Now it's getting really close so I'm a bit stuck.
Our house is too small to have a decent party (nothing massive, I want maybe 40-50 people) but we have a tiny kitchen so it would be a right squash.
The other problem would be the babysitter, the only people I would trust would be family or close friends, both of which I would want at the party :(

Anyway, my friend, who has a massive house, has offered to have the party there! I couldn't believe it...it has solved all the problems or baby sitters etc cos the kids could sleep upstairs.

The problem is OH and my mom both think it's "weird" to have the party at a friends house, OH has said he wouldn't feel comfortable at all and wouldn't want to go. My mom just says its strange and will I be there to tidy up the mess after etc etc.

If we have the party at a different place it would cost money for the room, DJ, babysitters etc.

HELP I want a party but is it too weird? Could you do it?

**UPDATED**

Have decided to go for it!!!

It's gonna be fancy dress, Movie themed...need some ideas of what to wear please!!!

depends how close they are as friends it all sounds great, but i no when we have had parties at ours they are great. we even end up having water fights out side getting totaly wreaked. you need to be able to relax and if some one spills a drink not have to worry till the next day. you might find your self worrying about making to much mess ect?

if it were my close friends ild go there. if not ild pay for the room and just take brodys pram for him to nap in.

She is a close friend (she's actually my brother's ex-wife)...so she's been like family for 3 years till he was a stupid git and left her. I don't talk to my brother any more though so that's not a problem at all.

ild go for it have the party at hers then. saves money the kids can sleepif you feel you can relax at her house then its a great idea. not wierd atall. i think its real nice of her.

let me no what day and time :D

I agree with Dionne, but you should have said it would be for about 300 -500 people, you forgot everyone on the forum :D

:shakehead: she dosnt love us...

have it at ur mates, if she was worried about mess etc she wouldnt of offered :)

Wow hun are you really going to be 30? You don't look it in a million years, you look loads younger! (that's a compliment by the way lol).

My hubby is gonna be 30 in November - I have no idea what to do for him. I wanted to throw him a party but he has no friends poor sod lol.

By the way I think you should use your friend's house. I don't find it particularly weird at all.

It'll be fantastic to have it at your friends house Hun. Any way ive chatted to you already about it, looking forward to the MSN party!!! xxx

I would throw the party at my friends house! Why not.... maybe your mum feels a bit uncomfortable cause she's ex family. You DH will come round.... I'll send him some decent biltong to shut his gob!! Problem solved!

What date is your b-day?

Emilia xx

Defintiely have the party at your friends house, I don't think its weird at all. My OH is 30 in November, we have a small apartment and could never have a party round at ours, so i have no idea what to do.

I hope you have a fabulous birthday!

As you are close freinds i would have it at your friends house

I wouldn't think twice about it if me mate offered

Thanks everyone, I read all your replies and I spoke to OH and.....

.... he just said to go for it at my mate's house and it will be fine :D

***NEW QUESTION***

I've decided on a Movie Themed Fancy Dress Party!!

We'll have popcorn on the tables and stars on the doors for "dressing room" etc.

Now I need some ideas what to wear please!!!

catwoman? you're DH would be impressed hehe...

Batgirl is fab!!! or if you have toght combat short and a vest in your wardrobe, you only need to buy a thigh holder and gun to be lara thorne?!

The batman and batgirl look really good :D

I've got my thinking cap on i will be back

Looks like everyone agrees. Have it at your friends house. I think it's a great idea as long as you sort out who's organising what.

I have a similar problem. OH is 40 next month but I'll never be able to get everyone in my house so am planning on going out for dinner but have family and friends in Milton Keynes, Hertfordshire and Norfolk so don't really know where to have it to keep everyone happy :?
