dilating already? surly not...

seem to be having a few issues tonight,
just went and had a nice long soak in the bath to try and help my back (it has a little bit)
hubby came in and shaved my legs and lady garden and he put his fingers in me and pulled them back out shocked saying he could feel a hole where there wasnt one before, he said he could of quite easily got 2 fingers in the gap i told him not to try incase he damages something,
he said that the hole definatly wasnt there last week
am i dilating or is it something else?
not in any pain or anything and apart from a few cramp here and there and a few strong bh's not had anything to sujest i am dilating lol
any help would be great

not sure hun I would have thought your cervix would be quite high up at this point and hard to reach.
Also I would have thought you'd be in a lot of pain if you were dilating.
I wouldn't have thought it was cause for concern if there's no pain or signs such as a show or waters leaking.
Maybe give your midwife a call to be safe

ETA: I wish my OH would shave my legs for me cos I really can't be arsed with it anymore. I will tell him he's neglecting his duties

not fair! It took me 6 hours of pain to get to about 3cm!

If thats the case maybe you should get on the phone to midwife now manda

hubby has now gone into overdive on the panic mode told him to calm down lol
will wait and see if anything happens as cant ring midwife after 3pm have to ring l&d instead and its cold out dont wanna get dressed and go all the way to hospital if im not in any pain lol
think im just stubbon!!

me too! with my second so i was being monitored and the mw was saying.." you must be able to feel it" i was having painless contractions, i got to about 7 cms with him and then with my last i was 3cms when i had a check up just before they started me off and i never knew either!

you could possibly be dilated, its no uncommon to dilate to 2cm and stay there for ages. i was aout 2cm at 32 weeks also, if you have dilated you will loose your plug soon as well. if your not getting any pains i shud worry yet... and just had to laugh at the way u wrote it


he shaved me and stuck 2 fingers up sounded very random

i feel so embaarrassed admitting to him even doing it
feel ok today had a few twinges lastnight nothing huge am off to hospital today to have bloods done anyways so if anything happens atleast il be in the right place

hows your dilating this morning hun? LOL @ how hubby found it, bet he scared the life outta you as others have said alot of ladies dilate well before labour to 1-2cm. Im hoping I dilate to 5-6cm without knowing I drink enough Raspberry Leaf so

Hi Manda,

I think I am a bit dilated too and have been for about three weeks now. I checked my cervix (very gently) and could feel the mucus plug and around it my cervix which feels like I could easily poke my finger in. I panicked a bit when i first noticed but have just come to accept it. I checked again a couple of days ago and now it feels a bit wider about 1 and a half cm. I will ask my midwife about it when I see her I think but, not sure whether it is something I should email her about or not.

I hope all is okay with you today and you are not more dilated. Give us an up-date when you're about.

I got into a habit of checking it a lot when i was ttc so had become quite used to how it feels at different times. I've tried to leave well alone since I have been pregnant but the temptation is just too much sometimes. You're right though, probably best approached with extreme caution. I'd hate to knock something out!

me too, Id prob break my own waters and drown myself
