I woke up today feeling so incredibly low and tearful - I realised I'd felt similar a few weeks back and has text'd my friend about it. I checked the dates and it's exactly a month ago - the day of ovulation both times.
Does anyone else get this? It doesn't feel like "me", it definitely feels hormone related and feels quite overwhelming.

I used to take progesterone tablets and then switched to the Mirena (as a way to get progesterone rather than contraception). I've now taken the Mirena out in order to conceive and wonder if this is the issue causing these mood changes - perhaps I need to go back on progesterone? Just wondered if anyone out there has felt this.

Yesss i got that so bad!!! I took progesterone in the tww for other reasons and the next cycle I didn't get tue depressed feeling just before ovulation so may of helped xx

I get low before ovulation. Dark chocolate is good because it's full of magnesium and estrogen lowers your magnesium. And hey any excuse to eat chocolate, right?!

Thank you both! I'm sorry you've had that but also glad not to be alone with it. It's good to hear about the chocolate (I have some in the cupboard!) And the progesterone tablets.

If I have another short luteal phase (it was only 7 days last month) I'll go to the gp to see whether progesterone might help, I've read that it helps with that. I'm worried he'll say I need to wait because the Mirena has only been out for a short while. ( Fingers crossed for a normal luteal phase this time because we've been so on it this month! We've done the BD 5 out of the past 6 days which was thanks to the Xmas holidays!).

Off to eat that dark chocolate now and keep my fingers crossed for a better day tmw. It feels horrible being like this!
