Dumb question coming up
We're currently using condoms, but I don't want to continue this method.
Can I still get the Depo injection as a contraceptive even though I don't know if I've had a period yet or not, I've had odd red or brown long and short spells here and there :?
How and when could I have it as I don't want to make an appointment with a nurse at the GP's and look stoopid, would rather look stoopid here :D

I dont see why not hun.
Didnt think you had to be at a particular point in a cycle to start it.

You have to start it on the first few days of your period I think? If I remember correctly :D I cant believe she is 6 weeks old already

I was on it years ago so can't honestly remember hun, but I hated it anyway and wouldn't recomend it to my worst enemy. It was awful. I became really depressed, lost my sex drive and put loads of weight on. i also never had a period all the time I was on it and when I stopped taking it it took months for them to come back. I'd never go on it again, rather not have sex than be on that :(

The same thing happened to me, i wont ever use it again.

But i honestly dont remember having to have it at a particular point in my cycle unless they have decided to do that now as its been two years since i came off it and started using it six years before that.

That happened to me too, only instead of the weight gain I got horrendous spots - face, back and chest :puke: I just read a thing in Mother and Baby that said it has almost no side effects!

I am fairly sure that you do have to be in the first few days of your period - I did the first time (although that may just be so that they know you aren't pregnant).

Ring the docs/NHS direct and they should be able to tell you.

I had it after my DD. I cant exactly remember when I got it but I remember discussing it at her 6 week check and getting it fairly soon after, I think I had to wait till 8 weeks after she was born for some reason? Incidently I never had a period as I was BFing and they werent bothered about that, they didnt make me wait for one. I never had any side effects apart from no periods (which was a bonus actually :D ) But since coming off it I have struggled with TTC and I am not sure if its not a bit related so I wouldnt recommend it if you want more kids soon. That said, everyone reacts differently I suppose. :)

I had it the same day as Angel's 8 week injections. . I'd had nothing period wise and they weren't bothered. I put weight on with it so not taken it since.

It took me 9 months to concieve Calleigh. Took me almost all that time to have a regular period, they were all over the place and could last weeks at a time. It was quite a horrible time for me :(

I currently have the implant and this is the side effect i am suffering from. I have got to book an appointment to get it removed.

I've just had it done again today. Didn't want it but it's done now. I'm a month late, she wanted a negative pregnancy test! I didn't know that so she asked when i was last on and if i've had unprotected sex since. I said no so she did it anyway.

Just so you know as you are unsure of your first period and you've had protected sex. So you should be fine.

NOOOOOOOO, please dont.. I didnt listen to folks on here when I said I was going to take it and they said dont.
I can honestly say I could have flung myself under a bus I felt so bad and so depressed when I was on it.
You may remember some of my ranty posts. It was an awful time. I would t advise any one to have it.

Im back on the pill now till dh's snip is confirmed as having worked.

Sorry if I sound odd but Im so against that depo now after it made me so ill.
