Hi All

When I had my daughter two years ago i had a shoulder dystocia birth and then heamorrraged, which was pretty horrific and very traumatic. She was 8ib 9 and they put it down to her large size, my small pelvis and bad positioning.

I haven't had my midwife appointment yet and will discuss it with her next week (am 7 weeks), but I was just wondering if anyone else had a shoulder dystocia and what did they do about subsequent births?

My Dr at the time told me that no obstetrician would let me go through a normall delivery after what happened and that I would need a caesarean, but now that I'm pregnant I'm freaking out at the thought of them cutting me open. I know millions of people have caesarens and they all go well. I'm terrified of a natural birth again because of what happened, but I dread a caesarean as well, dread not being able to drive for 6 weeks. How will I get my toddler to her childminder? - Anyone got a magic wand?

If I did have a natural birth, would they let me be induced early to prevent the baby being bigger than necessary?

Sorry I really don't know. I had shoulder dystocia with my 3rd baby as he was 9lb 5oz and is very broad. I'm not having anymore kids so I don't know what would happen if I did. 8lb 9oz is quite big for you 1st baby, my 1st was only 6lb 11oz so you can see how they have jumped up quite a lot. Chances are this baby is gonna be quite a lot bigger so hopefully you get some help

last time i was induced, after labour stopped at 5cm. later found out baby was stuck and just going around in circles due to my small pelvis.

But this time i asked if i would have to have a section again like last time, and they said no, but they wont induce me. so as long as i labour by 41 weeks they will leave me to try again.

Im a bit scared and dont know i would rather an elective section
