Hi all,

Just checking in as I'm not on facebook. Welcome LucyW4 and Cc122!

Hope everyone is well? Do you all have bumps now? I've got a little bump but still think I look a little lardy rather than pregnant depending on what I'm wearing!

Has anyone bought maternity clothes yet? I feel like most of the stuff I've seen online is for third trimester. I can still mostly fit into my clothes, with the exception of trousers so I guess I'll need to get some new clothes soon.

How are everyone's symptoms? I need to pee loads and hormones are messing with my emotions, keep missing my boyfriend when I'm at work?! I have a very busy, involving job and don't usually think of him very often while I'm there! :-/

20-week scan is on Monday (a few days early but I'm not complaining).

Xxx

Hi eager_reader

Nice to hear you have a little bump, I do too! It’s making it all that more “real”. I bought a pair of distressed skinny maternity jeans but like you said, I think they’ll fit better more towards the 3rd trimester.

I’m the same, I’m also peeing non stop! It’s affecting my sleep as I need to keep getting up during the night, are you the same? I don’t really have any other symptoms, thankfully.

Good luck for your 20 week scan, it’ll be exciting to see how much baby has grown. I have my 20 week scan on Thursday and then a fetal heart scan 2 weeks later which I’m a bit anxious about. Can’t believe we’re almost half way there!

Take care x

Hi Eagle.

I have a bump, gradually getting bigger every day I think. Have been in maternity clothes for weeks although they were a bit big at first.

Hormones are pretty normal here, haven't suffered too much in that way.

20 week scan is today :)

Hi eager_reader,

Thank you for the welcome :) All good here thanks, I'm starting to feel really good and a little less shattered depending on how my sleep has been. I'm starting to get a little bump too and am avoiding certain items of clothing that don't expand easily! I've bought a couple of maternity bits, but haven't needed to use them just yet.

I too am peeing a lot! And finding my bladder plays tricks on me as I feel I really need to pee but it trickles out...I then stand up and realise I haven't quite finished, nice! haha. I've read this is quite normal, thankfully lol.

Good luck with your 20 week scan, exciting times. Mine is on the 27th July, but I heard baby's heartbeat again at my midwife appointment on Wednesday which was amazing...sounded like baby had some techno playing in there haha. I think s/he will take after my hubby and be a drummer!

WolfMamma, I was pleased to hear your scan went well, exciting :D

Hi Marli,

My bump is way more noticeable now - I think I've had a couple of spurts lately!

Thank you for your good luck wishes. I'm thrilled to report that all is well and my partner still felt OK with going with my choice of keeping the gender a surprise!

Hope your scan goes well - just one more sleep to go! Is the fetal heart scan routine, or due to a complication? I was advised that I may need an additional scan/s at some point to monitor growth as I have hypothyroidism.

Glad your symptom are easing!

I have exactly the same issues with peeing - in needing to pee lots, but only producing a trickle!

Aw baby's heartbeat is cool isn't it? Mine sounded quite swishy!

Do you want to find out the gender?

Hi there

I’m glad to hear your scan went well, that’s great news! It must be really exciting to be keeping baby’s gender as a surprise. That’s great too that your partner is ok with your decision. I ended up finding out early that we’re expecting a baby boy, I just couldn’t wait lol.

Thank you, I’ll update tomorrow with how the scan goes. They have been doing extra scans and monitoring baby a bit more due to him having a high nuchal translucency measurement at the 12 week scan. Actually, it was very high at 7mm. They had told us that such a high measurement meant he likely either had Downs Syndrome and/or a heart defect. I opted for the CVS procedure and the results showed absolutely no chromosomal problems. I had a “reassurance” scan at 16 Weeks and the baby appeared fine but they want to do a heart scan at 22 Weeks just because of the high NT measurement earlier on.

I’m really anxious about the scan tomorrow but am trying to be hopeful. I’ve been feeling little movements for the past few weeks and I’ve found them comforting, knowing that he’s wriggling away in there. Have you felt any little movements yet? Is this also your first baby too?

All the best xx

Hi p1ngu, thank you.

Just a wee update on the 20 week scan yesterday. There were absolutely no concerns, the baby was very active and all his organs/measurements etc are looking good. The fluid behind the neck has also gone too. Although we’ve still to have the heart scan in 2 weeks time, the sonographer said he was very happy with how the heart looked yesterday. To go from a 7mm NT measurement with a poor outlook for the baby and being told to prepare for the worst, , to getting the all clear from a CVS and anomaly scan is nothing short of a miracle. I feel I can now start to properly enjoy the pregnancy. Will update with heart scan results soon.

Thanks everyone

Marli you must be very relieved! That's amazing news, so pleased to hear baby is doing well. x

Hi Marli,

To answer your earlier questions... Yes, this is my first baby - so exciting! Haven't felt anything yet but I've read it can be as late as 25 weeks so I'm trying not to wish my life away! I also think I'm the kind of person that wouldn't notice anything until it's glaringly obvious!

Amazing that you have had the feels, that's so cool!

What an emotional rollercoaster you and your husband/partner must have been on, you must be on a high right now!

Are you finding it easy to narrow down names because you know the gender? We have a little shortlist for each gender but we have one much-preferred option for each! Don't want to rule anything out before we meet baby.

So odd to think that we're halfway there! :)

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a little tip...
I have just started a Pregnancy Yoga class run by The Daisy Foundation (they also do what I think is an equivalent to NCT, and Mummy/baby classes including massage/yoga). I found it so interesting and helpful. It's very much focussed on pregnancy (rather than just adapting yoga poses) - the instructor explained how to breathe and gave some great exercises to practise while in labour to help get baby into the right position. She talked a lot about what your body goes through during labour and how your breathing can have an impact.
The only downside (or upside?!) is that it is suitable for all stages, so in my class we're all pretty spread out when it comes to due dates.
They run the classes across the country. They go in blocks of 6, and it's £60 per block. I may actually take another block of classes closer to the due date.

Bunny are you still around? Just wondering how you're doing? x

I’ve been thinking of you as well Bunny. Hope you are ok!

Hi all,

Just thought I'd see how everyone is getting on, as I'm not on FB!

I'm currently 28+3 and I feel OK. :)

I got a pregnancy pillow a few weeks ago and it has really helped with sleeping. However, I have also started getting upper back pain at work (I work in an office). I have requested a Swiss ball to sit on. I also feel heavy generally, especially when I walk.

I had a check-up with the Obstetrician and a student doctor on Friday, they each measured bump and didn't trust their measurements, so brought the midwife in to do it for them! The size was 'normal' for the stage I'm at. The midwife said that she could feel baby wriggling while she was measuring! The baby seems very active but as this is my first I have no way to know whether they're more active than most.

I recently finished my last Daisy pregnancy yoga class which was brilliant. Lots of the ladies from the class are due this month and I feel like I have ages left to go. I think I will do another batch of classes starting in November.

I'm still happy with not knowing the gender, I can't wait to meet them and find out!
How are you all getting on?
Xxx

Hi, great to hear you're doing well!

I'm 26 weeks today. Also feeling fine in myself. Had the odd day of swelling here and there but think a lot of that was due to the warm weather. I'm welcoming autumn!

I'm also still team yellow. I think baby is a boy and my husband thinks girl so we'll see. x
