Hey all can i ask are these people obliged to allow you to pay any debts off in installments or not?

yep my dad had one of them letters and he rung them and now he pays in installements

i do believe that if you make an offer of payment they cannot take things any further.

I'm pretty sure that if you make a reasonable offer they can't refuse it.

With regard to Bank loans etc if you were thinking of consolidating them using another loan then its worth writing to them and offer them less as a full and final settlement. 9/10 times they'll agree because they'll get a chunk of money back rather than dribs and drabs.

With regards to things like Gas/Water Credit card bills etc I think that if you make a reasonable offer to try and repay the debt they can't refuse to accept.
If it went to court, a court of law would take all circumstances into account and be likely to accept your reasonable offer.

this is terrible. i would phone up and kick ass i would. do you want me to phone on your behalf. After ive finished with them they will be begging for mercy and offering ME money.

She wouldnt let me told me the full balance had to be payed in full i cant believe it. Why do i get myself in these muddles?

She told me that the balance had to be paid in full and the wouldnt except no payment options.

They can't do that!!!!

If you don't pay it and they transfer to a debt collection agency, they would accept it in part payments

and if it got to court you could by law just pay as little as £1 a week!!!!!

My mate has got into a bit of a mess and seen a company and all she pays is about a £1 a week to everyone she owes

they cannot refuse, it would cost too much to take to court and they would get laughed out anyway

its just bully boy tactics hun, don't let them do it, pay what you can when you can and they can't do shit about it

I only pay monthly on my littlewoods, dog insurance, credit card and even my TV license!

They CAN NOT force you to pay in full especially if you normally pay monthly.

The only time they can force you to pay in full is when you go to a high street shop and buy it there.

If your really stuck for cash ring up you CC's etc and ask for a payment freeze for a month. I had to do it for my lot when my dog needed an operation and vet's wanted us to pay up front THEN claim it back from insurance.

Needless to say were now with a differant vets.

Jo is right hun dont let them bully you!! they have to accept some sort of re payment and if it does go to court wich it wont bevcause it will cos them more to put it through court and would prob be thrown out anyway but ring them again and tell them they either accept X amount or take you to court and get £1 a week or even £1 a month they cannot refuse

take care hun and if anyone tirns up at your door dont let them in!!!

Since you've all ready made the payment all you can do is ring up your other things like gas/ electric/ CC etc and ask if you can have a payment freeze for a month.

thats not right flossy, ive a next account and been late a few times. They put you through to their debt control department. I had forgot to pay and used the mony in the bank account therefore had nothing to pay with. They asked the first available date that I would be able pay that instalment and that was fine. No hassle.
Call back and ask for the debt control department.

not going to go into great detail but try http://www.cccs.co.uk/ they have helped us LOADS and are fab

they're a charity too, not one of those funny companies that charge you money for advice etc

The citizens advice can help you sort of your finances too hun. They will also get in touch with your creditors and offer them token payments to help you find your feet again. Companys rarely refuse the CAB.
