Hi,

I'm looking for some advice. I had my LO late last Sunday for the first 2-3 days she struggled to latch. Saw the mw who helped us and my nipples are basically too flat no matter what I do and as a result she went from 7lb 2 to 6lb 3 :( so I've been using shields and she's been feeding much better. However because of the weight loss the hospital gave me a feeding plan which says I need to top up with 25-50ml of expressed after she's bf 8 times a day/every 3 hours. Anyway the mw saw her again yesterday and she put on 35g in the two days we had the plan. But she said that babies should be putting on 20-40g a day so Elsie wasn't quite putting on enough.

So today I've noticed that there doesnt seem to be as much milk coming out and she's getting unhappy at the breast because it's more difficult to get anything. Before I was literally dripping and would have to change because it soaked through my pads even when I expressed. But now the pads are mostly dry. In in a bit of a panic that it's dried up and that her next weigh in is tomorrow and she won't be able to out on because I can't feed her enough.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks xx

Drink loads of water, eat oath foods like porridge and you could try fenugreek tablets to help boost supply. Plenty of skin to skin with baby and maybe in the bath with her too xx

Thank you will give those a try x

The chance of your milk drying up that quickly is very very slim. It's likely that your supply has just settled down which is why your not leaking. LO could be getting frustrated waiting for let down, you could try a little hand express to start with so let down is ready for her. Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

My supply is rubbish and Harry is very impatient waiting for let down. Sometimes I give him a little bit of milk from a bottle and then put him to the breast xxx

Are you drinking enough Hun? This happened to me and I found I need to drink pints and pints to be hydrated enough! Midwife recommended alcohol free beer and fenugreek to improve supply too! I found the beer and lots of fluids got my supply back up, hope it works for you xx

Thanks everyone, I tried the oats and drinking gallons of water and it seems to have picked up a bit thankfully. X

Good news hun x I swear my special oat and raisin cookies are the secret to all my milk! Keep the oats and fluid up and you'll be fine x
