dating scan! im so excited and nervous!!!!

just had my first visit to the midwife! i think i am a little big for 9 weeks pregnant so midwife sending me for a dating scan i can not wait! hospital is going to phone me and let me know when it should be this week, what should i be able to see at the scan? hopefully not 2 little beans!!! ha ha. also i have been offered a screening scan to be done at 11 weeks anyone else had this done? i worried about that one.

No wonder you are excited!

At 9 weeks your baby is just starting to grow limbs! - You will be able to see the gestatinal sac with your baby inside. The fetal heart will also be visable. It will look like a little flashing light!

The 11 week scan you have been offered is a Nuchal Translucency scan. This scan is done specifically to examine the back of the babies neck. The measurement of this can indicate if your baby has Down Syndrome, which is unlikely so just treat it as another opportunity to see your baby!

I have included my scans at 9+1 and 10+2 weeks so you have an idea of what you may see.

your pictures are great! thankyou now im really excited. have shown them to my husband and after a little explaining he saw the baby! now he can not wait to see his! thanks for your advice
