Could this be my period??

So I gave birth less than 3 weeks ago, and my post-natal bleeding has been extremely light for the past week. Its been like the tail end of a period, very light and brown-ish.
But yesterday I noticed I had very slight period cramps, and my bleeding turned bright red again and is heavier than its been for over a week.
Last week, I could have wore just a panty-liner to catch anything, but this week, I'm back to wearing sanitary towels.
I didn't think a period could return this early. Could this be my period?? Or is it just my post-natal bleeding randomly getting heavier??
Thanks xx

Was your post-natal bleeding heavier up begin with? If so it could be that this is your period, particularly if you had regular cycles before being pregnant.

I'm no expert but I can't see why your bleeding would after three weeks become heavier, unless a common clot has come out and its bleeding after that - do you notice any clots?
Xx

No there's no clots, its just fresh bright red blood.
My initial post-natal bleeding was very heavy, that's why I was confused when, after a week of light brownish blood, its suddenly heavy and red. I thought it would be too soon for a period, especially since I was still losing the brownish blood?! Random x

I'd check with the midwife/health visitor xx

I'd have thought it was a bit early for your period yet.

It maybe depends how heavy your postnatal bleeding was to begin with. Mine has all but gone after 2 weeks, but mind you I'm not bfing. I would have expected my period in maybe 2-4 weeks from now? I expect them to go totally irregular though, I've always had funny periods.
Has Sophia started taking more in her feeds? Could it be a hormone boost causing the bleed? xx

My bleeding was up and down for 6 weeks, it would ease right off then start back up again. so seems normal to me, but worth asking ur hv if ur worried xx

My bleeding really went after 2 weeks, I have light brown stuff now and he's 3 weeks.
Id maybe ask midwife x

I'm not breastfeeding anymore, only did for a week so it wouldn't be that.

I'll speak to the HV when she's here next, I'm not really worried as such, just thought it was strange.
Thanks girlies xx
