Could it be?!

Hello all

My partner and I have recently (about 2 weeks ago!) decided that we'd like to have a baby. My period is now due and although i've had the cramping, nothing is happening... Normally, if my partner and I have a little bit of 'love' it brings it on. So we gave it a go last night and still nothing has happened this morning...

As we have literally just stopped using protection (I have been off the pill for about a year) Could it be possible that I am pregnant on our first try?! It would be a dream come true but I've heard of people having to wait years to concieve!

Do you think me stressing/thinking about it has stopped my period this month? I've never not had one...

not sure hun - icame off the pill in December last year and i was convinced i was pregnant - symptoms and all (as every month that folowed the same happened ) i think it might just be wishful thinkin sweetie and when you come off the pill your period can happen anytime - its all over the place because you have just come off.......you could be though!!

Yeah, I think wishful thinking has something to do with it... but I've had a regular monthly since I came off the pill, this is the first time it's gone a bit haywire!

I tried a HPT but it was negative. However, if the cramping was due to implantation, could it be that there might not be enough HCG hormones in my body yet?

is this your first month off the pill??? did you have a period straight after coming off the pill (like me!) and this would be your 2nd period? coz if so, my 2nd period was a couple of weeks late ( i think) and i kept thinking i was pregnant - was getting pains in my tummy, headache, backache you name it i (thought!) i had it - turns out i wasnt PG!

this month has been the worst so far - i was convinced i was pregnant....until bloody nasty AF showed up last Sunday.

im not sure though hun - you could be - just wait a few more days and if AF doesnt turn up - test again.

some people get pg straight away and some people take longer.... unfortunately the not knowing can drive you insane.... all you can do is wait and test again.... it can take some women a while to build up enough hcg in their system for it to show positive on a test.

I haven't taken the pill since about November 2005, so it's been over a year. Had awful pains/withdrawel symptoms like you when I stopped taking them!

I think you're right though - it'd be a long shot to have conceived first time! I'll wait another week and re-test.

What protection have you been using up until 2 wks ago? If it was just condoms then I guess there is no reason why you shouldn'thave caught so quick. I'd wait a few more days then test again. Good luck

Yes, condoms and... the pull out method!! We weren't really toooo concerned about being careful though as we always knew we wanted to have a kiddie at some point. Now i'm back to normal cycles we thought we'd seriously try.

how long are your cycles normally?

If you are due soon and did BD at the right time there is no reason why you shouldn't be lucky and get pregnant straight away.

My cycle is normally about 30 days, give or take a day.

I'm feeling sick and weak this morning and AF still hasn't arrived. Both pregnancy tests that I've done have been negative so if i'm not pregnant, I'm worried that something else is going on down there!

Think I'll go and see the doctor on Monday just to be sure.

It does sound like your in with a chance!!

Bare in mind though that stressing about it (even if you dont feel outwardly stressed) can delay your AF, so please dont be too disapointed if your not pregnant just yet.

Thanks for the advice! It's certainly weird not having an AF but I guess you're right, worrying can't be helping. I'll just relax this weekend and see what happens.

Gav has been saying this to me for the last couple of days.. I think he's been reading up on this stuff or something because he seems to know more than me!!

Ok, I have an update...(sorry, it's a bit yuck!)

This morning as I was sitting watching TV, I felt a trickling sensation and on closer inspection, I noticed quite a lot of creamy white CM. I actually had to run to the loo because there was quite a bit

I'm not sure exactly what this means but it's different than normal. I have read that your CM changes during ovulation but as i'm already about a week late, it surely can't be that?! So confused.

How annoying is it that most pregnancy symptoms are exactly the same as AF or ovulation symptoms?! We need a better sign! Like a big flashing arrow appearing above our heads that says 'PREGNANT!!'

I'm 4days late too and testing again on monday. Have you done a test yet? you can have increased CM when you are pregnant. Have you got any other symptoms? x

Well, I went to the docs this morning and was told that if the Clear Blue test said negative then I'm most likely not pregnant.

She took a wee sample though and told me to 'act like i'm pregnant' (i.e. take care of myself and keep taking folic acid) until the results come back, even though they will probably be negative. BOOOO!!!

I agree try and relax and not stress over it as it can delay AF
